Just thought I'd pass this on to everyone. These guys make 7" round headlights for trucks. I think these might work on an MGB too.
If they do, fantastic!

Hi Steve:
I posted on them last year.I am a Trucklite dealer & have actually seen them. They were originally designed for the US army in 24 volts, for Humvees as the original lights were broken when they were dropped. Now for the bad part, they are about $300 dollars each.
John
Do they work? $300 for a side, or for a set? I wouldn't have a problem paying that once if they last my lifetime. Though I know they'll be half that in a years time. Particularly if someone, say moss motors, starts carrying them.
These could be super for some marine applications where power is at a premium, heat is an issue, and/or vibration kills regular lights. Something like this could be most handy on a sailboat. I have been looking for SOLAS approved LED emergency lights that give 24+ hours of service on battery power if you lose the plant. Our ship does not have a backup generator far removed from the main engines. A dozen of these mounted in the engine room and other passageways would be perfect for damage control.
I still need to check with Perko to see if LED navigation lights are in the future.
Steve. Moss received a sample of this lamp, so I trial fitted it onto my MGB to see if it would physically fit.
They do fit in the MGB 7" buckets and the stock chrome ring can be installed. The light quality is excellent, really bright.
Now the down side. They stick out about 3/4" from the chrome ring and look really dorky. The MGB needs either flat faced lamps or preferably a smooth domes shape like the original sealed beams or Cibie H4 design.
Great idea, but there is no way I would install a set in an MGB.
Kelvin
What is the beam pattern? Are they E-code or old style DOT pattern?

Thanks for the info Kevin. I guess I'll wait a year or two. There will probably be an appropriate light on the market by then. LED's are the future after all.
Terry:
They are DOT approved. I know what u are saying about the European E code lights like Cibie made,I doubt it,they are kind of a bunch of prisms to look at. I kind of wonder about Wheeling trucks ad,whether it is one or two. They are boxed individually and sold individually. I can get for about $300 CDN each.
John
If cost is a factor, I think you will find that any type of LED light for automotive use would be prohibitively expensive. I have looked at the ones currently available for planes, AND THEY ARE MUCH TOO EXPENSIVE to justify purchasing, at least for me...
Steve were have you been? I will have to take a drive down island in Gordon for a visit.
Right here. Just haven't had much to contribute until this.
