The primary fault I find with it is that it's not in my garage!
Looks like the trunk lid is a bit off on the driver's side.
That and the top is not installed quite all the way. The rearmost folding rib needs to have that fabric flap glued to it or it'll never fold down correctly. Oh, and didn't 63 Bs have the stow-a-way top frame?
No heater?
No rear view mirror, but not sure if it should even have one.
heater controls no heater
front of bonnet bogged
R, bumper rear number plate
LHD needs adjust
what's that under the engine number.
Non-original air cleaners and valve cover. Are those the correct bumpers for that year?
I guess you don't need a heater in S AZ.
I wonder what's behind the panel covering the trunk bulkhead.
For all the pictures posted, he should have some of the sills and underside.
Looks like a later style hood frame.
Aside from that it ooks good from here.
I don't think they NEED a heater in AZ, but they do come in handy for late fall, early spring, late evening cruising here in Colo. I would also turn that later model fan blade around to put it to it's best use.
Good looking car.
Hard for me to pick on it too much considering the piece of crap I drive.
and is that an overdrive switch on the dash and no "overdrive" on the bootlid
looks a nice car though
No rear-view mirror
No heater (controls are there)
No windshield washer system
Wrong air filters
Badly adjusted wipers
Front overriders mounted on wrong sides
Plastic brake and master cylinder reservoirs
There's probably more. It's a nice looking car but people hunting for early ones want far more originality than you will get with this one.

I may be wrong but I think that badge was for the Australian market only.
Should float bowl on the forward carb be angled like that?
A lot of odd items.
Wrong air cleaner,
No heater
Cheap knock off MC's
Wrong plug wires.
Wrong dizzy cap.
Wrong valve cover missing line to air cleaner which causes minor issues.
Wiring on left looks odd.
No windshield washer stuff.
DIY seat covering. Not stitched in fully.
Wrong front turn signal covers.
Bulkhead?
car is pictured with no top. the top that is pictured is a non removable one?
Wrong floor carpets
no oil cooler
No undercarriage photos
wrong fuel lines
no tack cable I can see
Wrong motor. G correct but, the number should be closer
Nice new paint???????????????????

It was 42 degrees when I left the house this morning... you definitely need a heater in AZ. Of course, it's 75 now (5 hours later).
Hey Larry,
The early cars don't have a connection from the valve cover to the air cleaners, and I feel pretty strongly that the engine plate is REAL, its just that the ENGINE is not what that plate should be attached to.
I suspect that the engine plate and the car plate probably too where from another car, and they've been added to this one, one thing that raised that suspicion is I can;t see a tach cable, I see the speedo cable, but, it almost looks like its just hanging out under the carbs, and also, they don't show the ends of the VIN number plate, they were screwed on in these early years anyway, and I think they didn;t want to show the screws because they think they should be rivets. (just my "guess")
But, I LOVE THE CAR.
These little things just always make me feel like someone is trying to misrepresent something, and that makes me wonder if there's anything else. This is such a beautiful car, I think they would be better served just throwing it ALL out there and letting the bidders decide. Honest goes a LONG way, especially with old car guys!
Plus, with all this extensive restoration work, I SERIOUSLY doubt that the car only traveled 8000 miles. Again, another "slip" on the honesty staircase????
Nobody caught the rear bulkhead cover being in the trunk, I suspect some nice speaker holes for that STEREO that was optional in 1963.
What a beautiful color though.
You know, when I read the title to this thread, I told myself, lets NOT bag on another really nice MGB, but, then I see these things that are either totally innocent mistakes, or attempts to pass off something that isn't what it is. I like to think that maybe they're just innocent oversights, but, then I see the 8000 mile reference, and I have to wonder.
I would surely take the car though, even the asking price isn't bad, provided, I could get up under the car and take a look at those frame rails for the "actual" car number. I wonder how many people actually know those numbers are there?
B
Oh. Come on. Let's not.
The car isn't represented as a concours correct vehicle. I am guessing that the mileage is a foobah, rather than a direct attempt at fraudulence. It's pretty darn obvious to anyone that the car is unlikely to be low mileage, and there is no reference to it in the text.
The master cylinders are not "cheap knockoffs". They look like the current generation of superceded cylinders supplied by TRW, which are a logical update to the original steel tank units.
Any semi restored car is going to have some originality issues, especially if updates such as the later top bows are added for convenience. Each of us builds the car we want, or can afford.
The flowing prose indicates to me that this is being sold by a dealer, not by an expert restoration company specializing in accurate concours cars.
It's pretty and if it drives as nicely as it looks should become someone's pride and joy. It's certainly a heck of a lot nicer than anything I own.
kelvin
The biggest problem I see is the seller trying too hard, talking it up like a cheesy used car saleman trying to sell it to someone who knowes nothing about these cars. That and the really badly angled float bowls, and a few other fairly minor things, and a hundred pics of every angle he could get of the body, yet none showing the underside.

Well said, Kelvin!
Rob. I have the distinct feeling from the copy that it is being sold by a cheesy used car salesman : )
Chances are the person listing the car is pretty clueless about the distinct points we are picking at.
If it's pretty and runs, as long as there is no intentional misrepresentation, then it's all fair in love, war and used car sales.
trunk lid is bent or bowd, heater box is mia, convertabel top bow flap not glued,or wrong top for this model isn't this the year with the universal top and that all for my unexperience eye but i does look nice and the problems are minimal for a b but the price would stop me for making it correct and what about marker light did this year have them?
A lot nicer looking than my pull handle. Though I'd be mine will handle with it.
It was odd to have that many photos, and nothing underneath. And I am all for owners making changes, so I have to admit I felt odd about not having the Coopers air cleaner cans. Heaters are nice, if for nothing else but for the defog.
I would love to have it.
Looks good for the money. The modified GT door panels and the carpeted speaker surround are also not correct. Cheap rebuild when the large firewall plug is painted body color. You get what you pay for. Bob

Thats part of the problem with Ebay, cheesy used car salesmen ruin it. Working in the automotive business the majority of my life, I've seen some real dueseys and know most of their tricks (only from having to work around them). No intentional misrepresentation my ass....Used car salesmen, don't have much use for them.

Some of you guys are pretty amazing! Many of your comments would be much more obvious in person. Just goes to show what pictures on the web can hide.
What about those Parking Lamps? Wrong color lenses.
Funky carpet cover over the battery cover.
Carpeted sills and floors.
Screw and washer were the OD switch should be. (No blanking plug)
I've seen other seemingly attractive MG's for sale on e-bay parked outside that house. But I've never seen one sell. It makes me wonder.
yes,. that same house in scottsdale AZ,.
I may take an investigative trip there soon,.
there is something MGish about that place,.
bidding has ended, that was quick. Hope the new owner doesn't mind replacing the bonnet
Just did a quick compare to mine. Asside from what you all pointed out here's what I got:
Gear shift knob
Door caps should have white piping
Temp gauge sender-looks like a wire (electric) rather than a tube
Door finish caps (chrome) at least the front ones are missing
Door lock finishing caps and passenger door lock lever missing
Door mirror not sure that's right
Looks like a nice car, but not sure it's worth the money.
you guys are not gonna look at my car LOL.......
too much info, but I do wish I posted the same kind of add before I bought it....
I always look at a car like this as "what would it take to make it correct"? There are loads of originality issues, but the thing that bugs me is the 'quicky' in the engine bay. Painted over stuff that is not so easily fixed. It has no door weatherstrip, just the pinch cover.....doors might not fit so well if it had weatherstrip. It also as no rubber buffers on the lock pillar....all which might make the door alignment hard if you added them. Carbs, air cleaners..no big deal to fix. Rear bulkhead might be hiding speaker holes as stated. Top fit is bad but could be corrected...nice late top and bows. Switches are upside down...no biggy. Boot lid might not be easy to fix. Check out the oil cooler by pass hose...hose clamps! !
I think this car looks like a car that someone started, put quite a bit of money in and never finished it. These guys bought it and slammed it together. It could easily have been owned by someone on the forum, spent a year fixing the rust, spent money on paint and interior and then needed to sell for whatever reason......and the car ended up looking like this.
I think it's a good lesson in what to watch out for when doing your own car.
