can anyone help ? I am having difficulty opening the bonnet on my roadster. There seems to be no play in the bonnet release catch under the dash. The only way i can open it is to push and pull release catch under dash and eventually there is just enough play to release the bonnet catch, while someone at the front of the car lifts the bonnet,is there a way i can adjust it ?

Is the spring in the hood latch (it pushes the bonnet up slightly when released) still in place and serviceable?
Bob
Yes, the bonnet catch can be adjusted. Not only can the cable be adjusted for length at the release lever but the catch can be centered and the length of the part with spring can be adjusted as well. I would recommend before fiddling with it to attach some sort of remote (wire or sturdy twine) to the operating lever. The cable should also be lubed. I would not recommend taking the inner cable all the way out because getting it back in can be difficult due to frayed end and kinks.
Hope this helps

Mark, while you're working on this, rig you a release that will allow you to open the hood if the original release breaks. Gerry of GEM Enterprises once sold them, but I believe he's out of business. Here's a link to what it looks like, and the following link is the directions. You can probably do something similar on your own.
