I've recently seen a few modified B's that look nice, was wondering if anyone here might have some photos of non typical bumpers. I've seen one or two with Cobra like stripes and those little chrome bumpers, mesh grill, maybe some white racing stripes and a roll bar...I'm going to be replacing a door skin, bonnet, one dog-leg and front bumper due to a collision, will also be getting a fresh coat of paint...got me thinking about looking at other options...any ideas?

I would never own a car with backwards turn signal lenses. Such a heinous crime.

Came that way in 1968 and 1969 ex-factory on Australian assembled MGB's; I actually thought they looked pretty good that way!

Unless someone else has the very same car, that first car, the "Mirage" GT with the color-coded clipped bumpers is the work of Ken Nicks at Eclectic Rods and Restorations in Jonesville, NC. Ken is currently installing my Rivergate kit. I can tell you that he does absolutely impeccable work (paint and body work is superb) at very reasonable rates. Ken is an enthusiast and a perfectionist and I don't think anything will leave his shop unless the customer is 100% happy.

FYI, sometime after this month's show at Shelton Vinyards, Ken will be doing a tech session for our club in which he installs the Rivegate 5-speed in that very same GT. If it's open to nonclub members, I think some of you local folks would really enjoy seeing his shop.

I have entertained the thought of painting my chrome bumpers "body color". I really like the white one. Hmmm...

I can't decide if I like that car or not, James. It's kind of cool looking, but I keep thinking it reminds me of my refrigerator. At least it's easy enough to swap out painted bumpers (and turn signals) if you get tired of them.

I will attempt a pic of my latest project car. Front and rear bumpers are different than stock. Bob

The Mirage '74 GT is mine. Thanks for the compliments from some of you guys.
Those are the original bumpers that have been sliced & diced. They were so rusty & pitted when I started on the car we decided to try something different. I still have all the original mounting hardware and the car could have the original style roll pan & bumpers reinstalled tomorrow but I like it the way it is and have gotten more favorable comments than negative. I very seldom do a project on my cars that can't be put back "stock" at any time. The upcoming transmission conversion is also something that can be put back like it was. That's why I was so impressed with the Rivergate kit.

Regards To All - Ken Nicks
