Well progress has been slow, but I am trial fitting doors and fenders in preperation for installing the rockers. Both rear fenders need to be repaired, so that is in the works also. I need ya'll opinions. This car will be as close to mechanically new as I can make it, but the body is not in good enough shape to be a show car. I have chrome from a few different cars in various conditions and am considering using some of it. How do ya'll feel about a little patina on a good quality driver as opposed to a show car? I am leaning toward trying to let the car show its age a little. Will that hurt its value if I try to sell it later? I am a purist, so it has no visable mods other than a 5 main MGB engine. It will be its original OEW with 48 spoke painted wheels, but I will splurge on leather interior. Let me know what ya'll think.
See ya'll at NAMGAR GT

Tim,
If I where you I would build a nice driver. It seems everyone wants a show car, but not quite sure why they want it. It is very hard to build a 100 point car or even a 95 plus point car and even if you did...do not plan on driving it very much.
You already have a B motor in it so a perfect car is out. Make the rest of the car as original as possible and what ever you do keep the original bumpers and chrome, the repros do not have the same shape and rust very easily. When money affords, have the originals rechromed.
Drive the car and enjoy it, its not like the cars are worth 250K and selling higher every day at the big auctions. The guys that have the top notch show cars trailer them. Ask around to find out how many hours a year are spent cleaning a show car front to back, top to bottom. Some people cant stand polishing the body, never mind all of the details under the car!
my 3 cents
Peter
Build it, drive it, enjoy it.
I wouldnt spend money where its really not needed for your own personal enjoyment. If the finish on the windscreen chrome annoys you, fix it. If not leave it. Follow this very simple philosophy for every item.
With our A we built a car to enjoy. It looks nice, shines, but would come 11th in a concourse with 10 cars.
My 3 cents.
Build it the way you want.
The trailer queens will give you an early grave worrying about them not to mention you'll never drive it.
I believe the cars are made to drive.
Don't get me wrong I really like mine to look good.
In my opinion something that drives like a dream and looks good is the best choice.
I can't quite wrap myself around pushing and pulling a car in and out of a trailer.
Just my two cents
I rebuilt my 'A' to my own practical standard. I had no illusion that it would draw a crowd at the local British car show, but I am constantly receiving compliments as I drive along, "Nice car!". That, together with the pleasure of driving my 'A', is reward enough for my long labour of love. I used a variety of new and used parts. I kept everything original where I could, and where I couldn't I didn't lose any sleep at all making the decision to buy some aftermarket item, or to make a reasonable upgrade. Like all of the comments so far, my opinion is that the best thing to do is to do what most of us do: build the nicest driver you can... and then enjoy it.

I still plan on adapting some reasonable modern alternative to the dual MC. Preferably one that doesn't leak.
I say make it a driver , to your satisfaction, and drive it. I get just as many compliments on my driver as I do my restoed one. I say just keeping them on the road is the thing to do.
...agree with all of the above, plus you won't have to yell at your wife for slamming the door like it was a Buick.
