I think that you have forgotten about some other British cars: Aston Martin, Bentley and Lotus

I think about them, but don't own one, can't afford one, so I just enjoy my MGB and don't get very serious in my thoughts about them. I'd love to one of the "fastest trucks on Earth" as E. Bugatti called Bentleys. My mouth watered at the sight and sound of a fine little Elite 3 years ago at the Memphis All Brits show and and Aston Martin DB-7 (any variation) has been my dream GT since they were introduced. I'm afraid they will remain lost on this site as it is devoted to MGBs and even other MG types are seldom mentioned here.

MGA's & Z Magnettes are a lot more fun when re-powered with MGB drivetrains. Now that's 2 other MG's & we've come back to MGB's again. ;-)

I have a customer who put an MGB eng.,tranny, front, and rearend in a MGTD. Needless to say it is a LOT more fun to drive, not worth much but fun.

I am seeing more and more people with TD's changing to B' engines. The weak crank in the old TD engines and the cost to replace the crank when it breaks, seems to be driving the conversion. Atleast it is keeping it original in the fact that they are using an MG engine.

Tom, If that guy lives in Memphis I think I met him at the show time before last. He's done some other, minor, projects and was a pretty cool dude.

After my MGA comment last night I found myself parking next to a beautiful Turquoise MGA roadster today in the Home Depot parking lot. Top was down and was spotless. I was in my Chrysler unfortunately as my B is still on hold until the new room project is finished. Sure do prefer working on the B instead of drywall and trenching a ten foot conduit & floor receptacle into an existing concrete slab floor.
