I am back on the road after installing a new Eurospec distributor with a Pertronix electronic ignition from Brit-Tek - I really like that parts house. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I have been in and out of the site and have just caught up on Gary's problems - makes me sick, I really feel for him. During a project like that, all I thought about was my rebuild (I used to dream about it with a notepad near the bed). I can't imagine how pissed I would be if some jerk at a machine shop who doesn't share or care about our passion for these LBC's f***s up like that - it's really messed up. Sorry, rant over.

In those posts someone mentioned that JDW or Tom B had said there is a compatibility problem with the Pertronix electronic ignition and the Lucas sport coil (gold). Can someone please elaborate?

evidently the sports coil doesn't play well with the petronix ignition, being blamed for early failures. others have ran the setup for quite a while with no problems. the recommended setup is the petronix flamethrower coil

I have put about 10,000 miles on my 71 B using the Pertronix and the Lucas Sport Coil with no problems.

I am the one who has had repeated problems with the combination. I will not install a pertronix with out their coil. Oh, and Tom get ready your due any day now. :0)

Just to "weigh in on this", my Pertronix wouldn't fire up with the Lucas Sport Coil either. Finally gave up on it and went back to the original setup. Must be other variables to allow for so many different opinions! Sure wish I was tuned into you guys when I tried this last winter!

I re-read the Petronix stuff and it says it works with ANY coil!! I don't know!! Octagon installs them all the time with Lucas Sport Coils and no negative feedback!! Colin is pretty pickey!! I installed mine even though I had a Lucas Sport Coil!! That was NOT my problem!! :o) It ran great and the plugs looked great!! Loma (my buddy in Boise), said that they do it all the time! I just don't know, but it seems to be the only thing that works for me!!:o)
