took the trip and noticed:
tappet covers leaking. joy.
BUT:
changed driveshaft with one w/new u-joints. car parked, noticed a drip under the pumpkin. looked under there and gear oil was splattered on the battery boxes and dripping down.
what could be causing this? no leak from the rear of the diff, just looks like the front where the driveshaft connects.

thanks. looking at the catalog, does not look like too much of a bear...should i replace the bearings while i'm at it?
i just finished re-doing the front end, but really wanted to wait until winter to refresh the rear. is that possible to just replace the seal?
Reverse, 1st, 2nd, 3rd all go great. When I throw into 4th, if it is a regular shift (like my old subaru -- grab it and shift down pretty quickly) there is a quick "grind". If I slow down...such that clutch in pull-out-push-in with little "throwing" it goes fine. Just seems to be clutched a while. Is this how B's work?
Forgive my stupid questions...this is the farthest I've driven. New shocks and front end and she corners very well.
Incedentally - the starter was bad...the selonoid was engaging but that's it. I replaced it with the high-torque starter for the same as a rebuilt B's. Quite nice except that top post for the battery. Do they make huge shrink wraps?
The 25D lucas reman. dizzy from Autozone at 60 bucks is a keeper.
