I need an instuction book for a 1980 MGB. Haven't see one on ebay. Any other source?
Questions: How does the map light turn off and on? I replaced the bulb and now it woun't turn off. It will rotate between bright and dim. Where is the switch?

The lens is the switch. It rotates up or down to allow it to be operated by the door switch, always on, or always off. I can't remember which direction is which...
Moss hass reprints of the owners manuals. Its also reprinted in the Bentley manual.
Back (counterclockwise) is "off". At least on MY '79.

What is this map light you guys speak of? I have a console light and instrument lights...

I'm assuming he's talking about the console light.
OK, I just checked mine...
If you push in on the top of the lens, it should lock in the normal position - light comes on when the door opens. If you push on the bottom (rotating the lens downward) it releases from that position and is off all the time. On mine, you can hold it in the downward position to illuminate the lamp, but it returns to the center if you release it. I'm really not sure if this is by design, or if it's supposed to lock into that "on" position - and mine's just broken.....
Of course, if it's a dealer installed or aftermarket map light - on of those on a little stalk - none of the above matters. On any of those that I've seen the lamp shuts off when the head of the lamp is folded toward the dash.
