I just found out my ex-wife is selling my old B.

She's in Mesa.

It's a 77. Took third in class at St. Louis 93, won a ton of local shows in Arizona and Louisiana. No rust, excellent condition, has all the desirable late B mods. It's been lowered, properly, using a Chrome-bumper front end and steering rack and de-arched rear springs. Downdraft weber, SERIOUSLY built engine (does 110 effortlessly), but VERY streetable (I drove it daily), factory hardtop, nice alloy wheels. Obviously I'm biased, since I built it, but seriously, it is a VERY nice B.

I can't buy it because they're shutting down my department and I'm about to be unemployed again, and there's one other catch...

The engine was pulled a year or two ago to paint the engine bay and put a new clutch in. It was never put back in, so the car has sat, garaged, since.

But since the ex doesn't want to fool with putting it back together, she's letting it go cheap.

Let me know if you want me to put you in touch.

how did you ever let her get that car? give her the house, the stocks, anything but your B

I was weak and stupid. It's a fabulous B. Painted black tulip... you could shave in this car's paint... tons of little things, too, like when we had the seats redone (biscuit, in a 5-pleat style with topstiching), we had extra lumbar support put in.

It's been probably six or seven years since I last saw it, so in all honesty it's probably no longer as nice as it was, but it has been garaged and cared for.

I SOOOOO wish I could get it... She gave me dibs, but it's too far, I'm too broke, and I wouldn't have time to put the engine back in, get in shape and drive it all the way back to Kansas City. If I lived in Phoenix, I wouldn't hesitate. I'd find the money.

Boy, you better find a way. Make it happen. You'll not get another chance.

I muddled around and missed getting the exact same 72 B that I lost to a hurricane. All original, same color and interior.

I still regret not jumping on it.

There's just too much stacked against me. I found out Monday they're wiping out my department, and since Angel's in school there goes the only steady paycheck in the house. Even if I had the dough, I'd have to figure out how to get out there, get the engine in and get it home. I'm trying to tell myself it's better to leave it in the past.

It won't help!! I have never been divorced, but I have seen my wife mad!! :o)

If she had a heart and a soul at all, she'd just give you the car back. Man, that's harsh.

I'm pretty philosophical about it. It just wasn't meant to be. The car was in her name, it's her car, she can do what she wants. She did give me dibs, but there's just no way I can do it.

How much does she want Bax??

I'm not sure. I don't think she's sure. I think she's planning on letting it go pretty cheap, though. Marc F, where are you?

Time has passed. Everytime she looks at that car, she thinks of HIM. He convinced her she should marry him eh?

Time has semi healed the rift, to his benefit.

Trust me on this one. Show the wet puppy side, she'll go for it.

Of course, she may want him back as well. At least it would give him time enough to stuff the engine in and ride! (Just kidding Baxter on that part. I figure you are too much a gentleman to do that).

That means she wants to talk to you! Get your car!

If that car is still available after 7/15/3, please e-mail me with what she wants. I'll be home, may have to buy a trailer, and that would be a great second cruise. Then, we will make arrangements for you to get your car back.

I am here!!!! Just got in and am certainly interested in learning more about the car...I'd be happy to email your ex or she can email me at mfeig@cox.net

A large part of me feels the car belongs to you but if yu can't get and I can, I'd certainly honor do my utmost to keep her at your standards....May take awhile but I'd do it right...

Got any pics from when you had her?

Thanks for the opportunity,

This is the only picture I could find on my hard drive, from back when I had it, or shortly thereafter:

It's actually Black Tulip, not black, but Black Tulip never photographs true, it seems.

Black Tulip is one of my favorite B colors. Looks like a great LBC.
