Hi guys. One of our members needed a switch, which I just happened to have, for his GT rear window defogger. So, today I thought I'd go for a little jaunt to his house and give it to him. My B has never been this far from home, so it was a new experience for me. Glad to report all went well, car ran like a top with no issues. Anyway, when I arrived at his house, he actually came out to greet me, shocked me all to hell, nobody has done that before. After exhanging pleasantries, we talked about the usual things, MGs, the weather, MGs, Timmies, MGs, Innisfil (where he lives), did I mention MGs? The member in question is KLUTZ, who is anything but. What a nice man, gentlemanly and friendly as all get-out. He showed me his creation, the GT which is absolutely gorgeous, what a nice colour (if only I knew what it was called, lol). The man has done an admirable job on that car. Here's hoping he gets it done for Bronte. So we had a short visit because there was a gathering of the clan and I didn't want to take him away too long. Then I had a nice drive home, and all in all, a good day. Oh, before I left, as we were talking MGs, the conversation got around to sway bars. I mentioned that I don't have one as yet, so he says to take this one, as he hands me a front sway bar, in exchange for the switch. Like I said, nice man.......

Good for you and isn't it great fun to meet another forum member!! I've met more than I can count on my fingers now and everyone of them have been GREAT :) :)
Yup, I love this hobby. And not just for the fun of the car, but all the great people you get to interact with. Great bunch we have here!!!
Paul has always been there for me if I post a question, you can tell a general all round good guy and I'm pretty sure he is one.
Nice to hear a good story again on the forum.
Thanks for the build up Ron. I am so glad you had a great day driving. Still don't know how you dodged the rain. :) We ended up having a beautiful mostly sunny but cool day here with no more rain. It would have been a shame to have everyone huddle into the house if it did.
It was great meeting you as well. Your mods to your B are very tasteful and convenient, you have done well.
Your winter should be a busy one.... begin when the snow flies. :)
oh.. thanks for the switch. It'll go in when I get home from work tomorrow night. Bronte should be a go. With or without the GT. It all depends on how the Mrs. feels by then.
Paul
And no.. Ron didn't bring the girls.... :(
Heck Paul, you could have given Ron a beer instead of the sway bar and he would have been happy. Good couple hour drive each way Ron. Must be that your B needs to get at least a 100 miles trip on it each Sunday !! What way you going to Bronte? :S

Hey Don..
When we hooked that OD transmission up and dropped it all in... did we hook it up so that when you step on the brake pedel, the reverse lights go on? 'Cause that's what it's doing... :S
Ya know...
A sway bar for a switch ...
Reminds me of a joke..
No, Don, no beer, too short a visit, lol. Not that he didn't offer me one, though. And I didn't buy the car and spend all that time working on it to keep it in the garage, I want to drive. And it seems once I get on the open road, so does the car. I cannot believe how beautifully that beasty runs. Once I get a few issues straightened out and get that OD in, it'll be ready for the Reno run, just don't know if I'll be ready, lol. On a closer note, Bronte....hmmm....that's by way of Brantford, Kitchener and Guelph, isn't it?
Paul IS a great guy! I was on vacation with my family - driving from Chicago to northern Ontario - and managed to fnd a little time to drop by and visit with Paul, his family and his cars, as we were heading home. :) I was MG-less but did have our vintage(?) 1957 Glasspar Club-Lido fiberglass boat with us. It was fun to meet a fellow MG enthusiast that I'd come to know through the connection provided by these forums. With any luck, the next time our paths cross, it will involve both of us driving MGs!

Peter, I just have to ask, where in Northern Ontario was your destination? As for us Notherners, you are not in Northern Ontario till you pass North Bay? Just wondering?
Kim,
Great to see an MG so far North. I know there are some members in Alaska. I used to spend some summers in Timmins, Kapuskasing, and Smooth Rock Falls as a kid.
it crossed my mind to meet naomi last night. was just out driving in her direction and i would've met her but a few things held me back.
1. i wasn't invited
2. don't know where she lives
3. was low on gas.
4. it was pretty late at night.
other than those few minor things i'm sure we would've met. turned around and came home.

Hey Shareef,
That is great, what in the world did you do in our neck of the world for your summers?
Oh and as far as I know, there are 3 MG's in town and may be down to 2 as one guy was selling his?
Kim,
We used to live in Ottawa. Instead of air-ambulancing patients to Ottawa, my dad used to run clinics in the various towns. Smooth Rock was the first place we visited. It used to be a lot of fun. My dad would finish up about 4 in the afternoon, and we would head out fishing for a few hours. In Smooth Rock it was the Mattagami river used to be for floating logs to pulp and paper mill (up wind of course!). Most of the guys taking us fishing were ex-patients. My dad specializes in Parkinson's disease, and when they came to him they couldhardly do everyday tasks. Now they were handling the boat and driving through rough trails. They were retired but of hardy Northern stock. On the weekends we went much further. I remember getting in a speedboat at 5 am and being frozen for 2 hours. That was for sturgeon fishing.
You live in great part of world with very helpful and kind people.
Sorry Ron, for taking this off your topic,
Yes Sahreef, it is a great part of the world, and sometimes forget how nice it really is. The Mattagmi river runs through Timmins, and our town holds a Great Kayak Challenge now in it's second year.
There are also very many other parts of the world that are just as amazing in thier own right
I have found out that the membership here consist of a higher quality than I would have thought before I got to know them. I have yet to meet a member I didn't respect and the ones I met have proven my first sentence correct. It is my hopes to hang in here with all y'all and maybe some of these great qualities will rub off on me. AS for Paul, he had my attention and respect long ago and I hope he reads this and understands what I'm tyring to say...maybe this might help, Thanks Paul
No appologies required, Kim. It's always nice to read of other people's adventures and such.
Sounds like you had a great time, Shareef.

:D I wondered if that would spark a comment! LoL
I was headed to Muskoka, which IS north of Toronto. :)
Jack, I'd love to meet you, but I don't see a road trip in the stars. My wife can't travel for very long then her legs cramp up. If I were to attempt a trip it would only be IF my surgery is successful. I would have to stop by and visit with my old friend JD Weimer on the way. Actually my first stop would be to visit with Wyatt since he's right on the way South of town. I have to go there because that SOB never stops by when he drives by on his way to Brooks Imported Cars.
(Actually Wyatt is really a great guy, nothing like he throws out into the forums. Man his Drift Ice is a great spot. Beautiful.)
Don't want it to go to his head.
Ron,
I am not sure if it was you or another Ron on the forum that I met and traded parts with. Any ways it was not too far from Hamilton but a little bit off the highway. It was 6-7 years ago.
Anyhow my experience has been all people here (and outside here but MG related) have been wonderful. Maybe the marque attracts them.
Shareef,
It could not have been me, I didn't get my B until the end of September of last year.....dang, that's almost a whole year now, boy time flies. I think you're right about the attraction, definitely a lot of super people with these cars!!!

Ken. Thanks back, but to this day.. I still feel I may have overstepped my bounds, but... I guess I can put my mind at ease. And Peter.. Mary was asking about you and your family tonight while I was looking for an MGA for her on the interweb. She says hi.. (Oh.. if she gets an "A" and the roadster has to go) :)
Paul
