Three of us are going to run down to Charlotte on the fourth of April to wander around in the "auto jumble". Might not find many MG bits there but it should make for a fun afternoon.
You will be able to distinguish me from the other two guys. I'll be the one that looks like Brad Pitt with the great looking blonde on my arm. LOL
Wait a minute, let me rephrase that...Perhaps it should read something like...." the portly gentlemen hanging out with the two scruffy gear heads".
See you there!

James lives in Charlotte, but I don't remember him being blond. Dirty blond maybe, but not blond. And... I believe he is taken already by a fellow board member. :D
Yep! Naomi adopted him last year. I know because I tried to dis-own Nathan and take James in but I was too slow on the draw.

Jack, you've got to be referring to what I call "The Redneck Mecca", also known as "Autofair". My dad and I have been to every spring and fall Autofair every year for the past eight years. I've even been known to skip school for it. Too bad you are going on Friday. We will be there on Saturday. My only advice: Put on your mullet repellent...
You will be surprised with the MG bits. I've gotten a lot of good MG stuff at the shows before, but you usually have to hunt around hard for it, which is half of the fun. If you need stuff like license plates though, there are some on every corner.
I thought you were the scrawny guy with the gray hair, beard and peace sign.
Susan and I will have her two MGBGTs in the Antique Automobile Club of America National meet on Saturday. We'll be out helping to judge in the morning but should be hanging around the car by about 2PM. If you are there please stop by and say hello!
If you've never been, the flea market is tremendous. There is some Brit stuff scattered about but it's the treasure hunt that makes it fun. It'll take more than a day to walk it all and see everything. I'm usually there with some friends from Va Beach selling Model T Ford stuff but this year because of the added AACA National Meet, we put the flea marketing on hold to get our cars on the field. Susan's black Gt will be in the Driver's Participation Class since it's a real driver, and the maroon 74 will be in Class 25E. Class 25 is where you'll find the other LBCs. I understand there are more than 400 cars registered for the judged show Saturday. Bring you camera!
See you there-pray for sunshine!
Terry
Yep. That's me Greg, but the line from " WKRP in Cincinnati " always gets the girl. You know, "I am rich".
"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!" is a good one for breaking the ice too, but the younger things have no clue as to what it means.
Jack
PS: For me the first one is a lie. As to the second one I KNOW turkeys can fly!
Edit: So it runs through Saturday? I just might have to slide back down the mountain again.
Jack, it runs from Thursday through Sunday. The best day to get good deals is on Sunday when everyone is packing up and doesn't want to take everything with them, but Saturday is the day with the most cars/people. On Sunday there is usually a small LBC show gathering there too.
Scott, Autofair is the annual redneck gathering of hotrods and muscle cars out at Lowes Motor Speedway. There is a lot of vintage stuff there as well. There is always a bondoed up LBC or two for sale for twice its normal value. They have a HUGE swap meet, with loads of cars, parts, tools, and memorabilia. The nicer cars are usually parked all the way around the track with for sale signs on them. There is a decent sized auction and there is also a "feature" tent full of specialty cars or featured marques.
My dad and I have done the full show and field walk once in all the times we've gone, and it was in the fall when the show is slightly smaller. We started early, stayed until they closed, and did not waste much time. Even then, we barely covered all the paths, and we were dead tired. We usually skip a swap field and are able to do everything else. It is a HUGE show, albeit with mainly American stuff.
Terry, will you be around your GTs on that day? We will have to stop by and say hello to you guys if we see your cars.
Many of the vendors will be gone if you go on Sunday. There are several car shows on Sunday.
