Some of you may know that I am squandering my potential, wandering around in the Florida Keys, searching for direction. As a result, yesterday I stopped off to look at a 75B in the middle of looking for a suitable place to live, and a skiff.
About the B. It is a fairly straight Red RB. Good interior. Good tyres. Fair body: recent paint (last 2-3 yrs) showing some bubbles in all the usual places. Covered-up deterioration at the rear fenders on the seam strip. Same on the front before the windscreen and behind the bonnet. Floorboards rusty, but should be OK for a couple more years.
Engine: stock-single webber down draft - smog stuff removed. Starts, won't idle (needs some TLC and time) O/D trans. Yes thats right I said O/D.
This ole car doesn't rate a second look in Calif - Tex - Ariz, but would be a keeper in Penns - Iowa - you know the rust belt.
$1500, sounds cheap, and would prolly be a real good deal if you don't mind "minor"rust.
Check out http://keys.craigslist.org/cto/1428579037.html.
If nothing else, you can schedule your vacation around looking at this car. He is gone til Jan.
Have fun

I just purchased a 77 with Overdrive - and it all works, now. The Overdrive, if operational is worth what you paid for the car. I would drive the car - and see if the OD works. If it doesn't see if you can fix it (with the sellers) permission - and then see if the OD works. I fixed my overdrive electrics, (with the help) in a big way - of this group of guys - and man, am I happy about!
Rust is expensive to fix - and at $60 on up - for labor - it runs in the low thousands to fix rust. I would offer him $900 for the car - and don't higher than $1000 for the car total.
Check the wiring harnesses for past fires, meltdowns too. I did when I purchased my newly acquired 77 and she checked out - no rust either.
Take your time - and don't be hasty on the car - there's more out there.
Thanks for all the advice Dan, but I'm not going to buy it, I am simply passing it along to the group. If anyone else wants it, I'll be happy to help, but I'm a Mk 1 kinda guy. The RB's just don't do it for me.
Have fun
OH Harry, now you've set him off. "The RB's just don't do it for me."
How far down the Keys are you?
RS
Well, mine aint half bad! Don't do it for me...sniff, sniff! :eyepop:
Hey Robert,
I'm staying on a boat in Marathon. Made a conscious decision to not attend the "Best Party in the Western Hemisphere" tonite (Key West, Fantasy Fest). Maybe I'm really growing up!
Nah!!
Dan, pretty car. Send me a check, and I'll load this little puppy on a trailer and you can have it by Thanksgiving.
Have fun
Hey Dan how about a pic of your car head on at eye level, what are those round thingies in the bumper mouth?
