LOL seems everyone is out hunting roadkill today..
This happened this morning, hit a Guinea Fowl at about 80 MPH, (African wild bird about the size of a small turkey.)
I think I bit a hole in my upholstery :P

LOL somehow doubt it, I was too busy sh!^*#ing myself to look in the mirror, I actually ducked over to the passenger side on instinct before it hit. Legs felt like Jelly for a few minutes afterwards :eyepop:
I have a friend who while driving home from the dealership where he just took possession of a new pickup truck, hit a pheasant and it went thru his windscreen landing in the seat beside him. Blood and feathers everywhere...
Cheers - Dennis
That called for a cool drink to calm your nerves. Glad to hear only the glass got hurt.

Chris...I am glad you read my comment as humor...after I wrote it, I wondered if I was being a bit insensitive to the experience...that must have SO LOUD at 80 mph! I am just very glad that no one was hurt (except for the poor innocent bird, of course).
...just curious whether you saw it coming before hitting it, or if the impact was your first sense of the event?
...it looks like the window frame is OK?
Tony
Glad you are OK!
A number of years ago I grazed a wild turkey in the Vanagon. Fortunately it was the Vanagon, and I was going up a hill so was only doing 35 or so. No damage to the Vanagon or the bird, but it's wings brushed the front of the vehicle.
I hit a pheasent in my B many years ago while hauling ass with some pipe fittings to fix a 6" irrigation line I broke. Must have been doing between 80 and 90. Got him right below the bumper on the right side. I think there is still some bird goo on there that won't come off.
I hit a pigeon in a Sirocco many years ago, I was going close to 100 and it hit directly on a headlamp, it punched through into the engine compartment. Fortunately it was a company car so someone else got to clean it up. :D
A friend hit a pigeon in his Midget on the same stretch of road, he was also going fairly fast and it hit on the edge of the bonnet, half the bird then went through the radiator grill, the other half slid up the bonnet, up the windscreen and over into the open cockpit. I did help clean that mess up - it was not pleasant!
How did you cook it for dinner. It looks like it must have been a plump bird.
Always keep your landing lights on below 10,000 feet. Tehehe.
Seriously though, that looks bad. Be thankful you weren't hurt.
Thanks all! And no, wouldn't have bothered trying to eat it, you have to stew Guinea fowl for about 3 days before its edible, their meat is like an old safety boot!
Fortunately I have windscreen cover on insurance, I only have 3rd party so if it had hit the grill I would've had to pay, Crazy thing is I only just replaced that windscreen about 2 months ago, I think If it'd hit the old cracked one it might've come through....
@ Tony: I saw it coming but only about half a second before it happened, they usually get enough altitude to miss cars but this one must've had a hangover or something :P
Two years ago on Highway 50 in Nevada hit a Golden Eagle-bent the radio attenna and tore off the pass side windshield wiper-this was in my '95 Tahoe. Felt bad about the eagle -the cloud of feathers in the rear view mirror led me to believe he did not survive.
In about week two of learning to drive in my parents car i hit a bird, a magpie, doing 80klm/h.
After the hit it rolled back down the screen and lay just above the windscreen wipers.
I had to do a quick brake and turn to get it off.
Good intro to driving.
You think that is bad? You should see what is left from some of our Blackflies and masquitos that hit our windshields in the summer... :(
Wow, that is quite a hit. At least you didn't suck him into your intake.
