I have a chance to purchace a used hardtop for my 75 B. Does the convertible top need to be removed completely from the car? Also what is a fair price to pay.

All the tops that I have seen require removal of the soft top mechanism.

Price? What ever the market will bear with consideration for the condition of the top.
Make sure the seals and "glass" are good. Seals for some tops are hard to find.

I brought the factory top that I purchased home from michigan with it installed on my '78 MGB....the soft top was stowed as per normal.

So yes, it is possible (in at least the above example) to have both tops installed on the car at the same time.

Mine allows the soft top to stay on, but it makes it a bit easier hooking the thing up if the soft top stuff is out of the way.

Fair price? It would greatly depend on the condition and mfg of the top.

The Snugtops fit over the folded soft top without any problem.

Here's a pic of my set up. The soft top can be kept in place providing you have the Michelotti folding top 1971-1980.

I can confirm - though for the winter I leave the snugtop on till Spring and so I take the folding top out to give me my speaker\parcel space back :)

Glenn,
A "fair" price very much depends on condition of the soft parts. If the paint and glass are in good condition you can still spend hundreds on the soft parts.

Here's a link to MacGregor's. They have most of the soft parts.

Martin needs to re-do his website with more current conversion rates.
