Went to see my insurance guy today, and just as an aside I asked about insurance rates for restored cars. Good news is it'll only cost me $50 to $75 every 6 mos. , in WI. thats about all the convertible weather we get.He also mentioned that I might want to insure said vehicle during the resto, as I start to spend more money on it. My question to this forum is , when did you folks start to insure your projects,? At the start? or when project was complete.

The second the potential for it being road worthy (or at least moveable under its own power) came up which was about the time I had a couple grand in it.
I only carry liability. no point to that if car's not driving.
I insured mine as soon as I towed it home. Hagerty was extremely reasonable 150/yr and just felt better having it insured incase the thing cought on fire or something fell on it etc.
I had Hagerty for the last 2 years and have now switched to Grundy for a hand full of reasons. Classic vehicle insurance with agreed value is the only way to go in my opinion, and under NO circumstances would I have liability only even if parked in a garage half of the year. Florida is different because we can drive year round but the one thing to make sure of is the value is AGREED not STATED on whatever policy you get.
