If it is the same one I have, it won't work on Windows 7 - very annoying.

If it does work on Windows 7, please let me know so I can locate one.

I've got the manual in PDF form.

If anybody wants a copy, just PM me with your email address & I'll send one.

I just sent the seller that question. I'll let you know when I get a reply.

That is probably just the same free PDF burnt onto a 20 cent disc and asking 17 bucks.

Ask the dude how big the file is.

That will be the clue.

I think the free one is about 27 Mb.

Scammers on OZ ebay sell the same ripoff.

Okay...here is the sellers response. (Maybe pooch2 is right).....

Hello,

Any windows operating system can view PDFs. You just need to make sure you have the correct reader installed for your operating system. Readers are available from adobe.com

Thank you

Hmm - the poster said they have the original parts fiches as well.

The original s/w (which has both the manual and the parts fiche) does use *encrypted* PDFs - and the encryption key is buried somewhere in a startup program. So, although any computer can read a PDF - if it is encrypted, you need the key. And the version of s/w I have won't run on Windows 7 and there is no way to get the key.

The s/w I have is official authorized, and licensed from the copyright owners. My guess is that this is just something somebody scanned in.

For youse that want the PDF manual.

Follow Dave's link.

Right click... on the MGB Workshop Manual.pdf.. 26,701 Kb (26.1 Mb)

and click .... Save Link As.

Dollars to donuts it is the exact same as the dude is trying to get to part with 17 bucks for.

You will need adobe reader to view.

THERE you are talkig about giving yourself pain. especially if you try to distribute.

the Bentley is an active copyright. the BMC.BLMC manual is not.

Sep 07, 2010 22:27:02

Why is the BLMC one not copyright too?

I thought copyright was 50 years from the date of publication.

I'm sure the BLMC manual is still protected by copyright - and the rights have no doubt been transferred to somebody - but they may be sufficiently preoccupied with other matters not to actively pursue a hobbyist for a 40 year old manual.

The authorized version is sold by the Heritage Motor Centre - but the cover states that the required version of OS to run it is Windows 98. The sad thing is that they don't appear to have any inclination to update it to run on Windows 7- even though that would surely be a trivial task. It is, after all, just an encrypted PDF.

I was hoping that someone else had gone to the effort of getting the rights and reworking it - but so far it sounds like just a scam.

I don't follow what you mean by encrypted file?

Does not this 26.1 pdf file open in windows 7?

The CD on offer doesn't contain the freely available manual, that one is for early cars, up to 1966. The CD also contains the parts catalogue. I've just asked the seller if the PDFs are indexed and searchable, if they are that makes it a lot more than just a scan of a couple of manuals.

?

Just went thru free one.

It mentions early and late cars.

has info on 3 and 4 sync box/ D type and LH OD/ HS4, HIF4/tandem braking/alternators.

A bit more than 1966 methinks.

Sep 08, 2010 16:41:28
Moggy59

I was thinking it had later info than 66 too.

That could easily be my old and failing memory, I really didn't think it covered the 4 sync boxes.

The seller hasn't replied yet.

Just as I thought...the pdf manual from the New Orleans site is for the upto 1974 cars. Looka like its back to the drawing board.

it is usually an old version of Acrobat that won't work rather then the PDF.
