You were driving a CB, Burgundy with a tan seat (maybe one with a black cover). Press plates. Participating in the Trail Race? Hawaiian shirt? I possibly called you Hawaiian shirt guy as I am with Search and Rescue and was working the switchback corner?

Hey Eric:
Yep..that was me you saw! Good B Spotting!
I'm getting the interior done slowly ( one tan seat at a time)....I work for the Sierra Madre Weekly so I was shooting the Trail Race for this Thursday's paper...also had a little show of my work in Kersting Ct...
Cheers,
Terry
I'll look out for you car, BRG correct?
Terry
Eric/Terry- I'm in your neighborhood, sort of.....Glendale/La Crescenta to be exact. I'm around Pasadena more often than Sierra Madre, though. '73 Roadster daily driver, OEW, with tan interior. Terry- can you tell me more about doing your tan seats "one at a time"? I'm interested because my driver's seat needs replacing- broken back lever- and a fine member of this forum gave me a used frame. I'm cleaning it up and preparing to get webbing, cushions, and then I'll need to find an upholsterer to "match" the other seat covering. Admittedly, I'm dragging my feet because I know what a pain it is getting that seat out and then back in on its rails. How are you proceeding?
Yeah Terry, I think I've got the only BRG RB car in the area....
Steve here is a neat youtube video on re-covering seats.

I didn't have too much trouble getting the seats out of my car, but then again it's a later model, not sure if the process is the same.
We should have a little get together sometime :)
Steve:
A friend of mine is slowing recovering my seats..He's finished the drivers...and now I just have to ask him to find some time to do the passenger seat..I wanted this light beige as is compliments the damask red , at least I think..So the interior will be a combo of black and light autumn leaf( beige )..I'll ask him if he wants some work..he's VERY good and I'm suer wont charge much if the seats are already removed..but be operates from his house...so time is limited..He also is an incredible emchanic..he did the rebuild on my 74!
He lives in Pasadena also...
Let me know exactly what you want done and I'll ask him if he's interested!
Cheers
Terry
Eric- That's a real good YouTube video; I definitely learned a few tricks. My basic question about the process is, though: Why are the floor rails "attached" to the seat frame? Every time I've removed seats the rails and the frame don't stick together, and sliding the frame back onto the already-installed rails is a nightmare.
Terry- Your friend sounds like a great resource- I would think that I'd be recovering both seats in maybe a couple of months. Would like to have his number, if OK.
Steve,
Mine come out with the rails attached. I slide the seat all the way forward and unbolt the rail from the floor, then slide all the way back and do the same. Then you can remove them together. Invert the seat and you can access the screws to remove the rails from the frame.
In one case the screws holding the frame to the rail were a little loose, this stopped the seat from traveling all the way forward. The screw was actually catching on the floor bolt. Lifting and and sliding the the seat at the same time I was able to clear the bolt and then remove the seat with the rail.
Good luck.
Thanks for the good info- I'll get my guts up for it and try once more. I always have this nagging feeling when I do stuff....it is truly my daily driver, and what if I just can't get it done over the weekend, or what if it just won't go back in at all??!! I have visions of driving to work while sitting on a folding beach chair.
