I would like to find out what model aluminum
radiator to use on my 1972 MGB GT V6 project.
I want to use a Mustang radiator and air conditioning
condenser... what year Mustang would work?

I bought one for a 63-65 year. I haven't got it installed yet but it looks like it will fit nicely. It is an aluminum Champion 2 row radiator for the v8 Mustang.

For what it's worth, we have a 77-80 MGB radiator retro fit installation kit that works specifically for earlier MGBs.

The stock late model radiator works very well, plugs right in and looks proper for the MGB. It is also longer and holds more coolant with the inlet/outlet in the correct place for most V6 conversions.

I know its not the answer to your question, but plenty of people think they need to go for something much larger or more expensive to cool when they don't.

Brian,
I am putting in a 302 Ford in my RB and I will have a 3 row Alum. So you are saying that my late model radiator is in demand and may be lusted after by the V6 guys. If I take it down to my buddy and have him boil it out and paint it and make it look like new like he does, what do you think I could get for it?

Even the regular Mustang rad is plenty. You can use either the 6 or V8 model. It depends on the outlet size and location you desire.

Will,

Have a look at what they sell for new and determine your price off that. The one that is in the shop car is old and nothing special, works fine.

FWIW I have used the 77-80 FACTORY rad. only in ALL my M.G. V-8 with the alu. 215/3500, 3.9,4.2,4.8 & I run A/C & I pull a 3,000 lbs of trailer. 700,000 miles on all my V-8 & have NEVER over heated! The B 77-80 rad. is the same as the factory V-8 rad BUT the in/out necks are at a different location

I have both, a. v8 MGB radiator and a 77-80 MGB radiator. The v8 is longer at least mine is and it does not look to have been reworked. Although I did buy it used. And as Glen said the water outlet is on the other side.

Several custom radiator outlets can make them to your spec. Mine was done through PRC. You pick dimension, flow, inlet, outlet, drain, and fill locations.
