Has anyone installed either Minilite or Panasport rims on their MGA.
If so,which has the better offset to fit properly inside the wheelwell?
Also what rim width are you using.
Thanks folks, Steve

.....and steel wheels are much safer anyway.

Ralph, is that the new "open-wheel" design I've heard about??

I have used Panasport 6x15 light weights ("for racing purposes only") and they fit just fine. Don't know if they are available with different offsets or just 'one size fits all'. I can measure the backspace....but its cold out in the garage tonight.

I've got Minilites on mine- they are 5.5" wide so the 165R15's I has on the old steel wheels just fir without looking funny. They have 1.5" positive offset, same as a steel wheel, but because they are 1" wider, you get a track increase of 1/2". Call me crazy, but I can feel the difference, the car is decidedly more planted on the road. The only problem with them so far is that the lower rear fenders tend to collect road grime and debris from being splashed by the wider tires.

I am sporting 15x5.5 with 195. 60 tires. They are the Mini-lite repros from Moss "not Panasports". I will have the off-set for you tomorrow.......

Steve,
PM Scott Brown "skippymga" on the motorsports forum... he and his friend run a couple of fast MGA's in vintage. He can advise you.

Steve, our new wheels will be arriving anyday, we should be ready to ship next week, the 15x6 has +28mm offset, which we used on the MGA many times, the new wheels is available in silver or black centers with a polish lip, and weight 13 pounds each, and the punch line is, they are the same price as the old wheel. Call me if this sounds interesting to you. I know I'm getting ready to put a set of the 15x6 black centers on my car. :)

Chris, This is for my new project. A 1961 MGA.
My blue one will be for sale in the spring. Interested?

If I had the money and a wife that could understand why I need (not want) three sports cars, then the answer would be yes! The chance of those two things actually happening in my life? Zero or possibly even in the negatives.

Hey Steve, those Superlites will look great laying on the floor next to the wings. Unless you got it all reassembled since the last pic!

Tell ya what, bring'em on down across the line and we can have a modeling session - on MY car!

Actually I have been following your wheel posts with interest as I have been pondering what to put on my coupe. I thought I was settled on the superlite, et al style, but I want as much tire as I can fit in the well without rubbing. As I understand it, this equates to something similar to the TR6 wheel dimensions. On the other hand, I keep spotting more modern possibilities...

Good luck!

Wise choice Steve!
If you get lucky you may find an old set of Ronal Minilites off a Saab like I did. they fit perfectly. They are 5 1/2" wide.Check out mgaguru for more info about the exact year and model. I also have 195 / 60/15 and it handles very well. Also the saab mini spare will save you trunk space.
