Hi,
I just bought a replacement turn signal switch for my 1963 B and installed it with no issues, other than the fact that my turn signals do not work, nor does my fule gauge after I installed it.
The turn signal switch is a Moss part that I bought via the B hive.
It curiously has two extra wires (brown and blue/white) that are not/were not used.
I installed the switch by disconnecting the previous switches wires one at a time and plugging them in color-to-color on the new one.
Does anyone have any tips/tricks or advice on what could be the issue?
I forgot to add that the previous switch worked, all lights and turn signals worked, everything on the car worked, I replaced the signal switch because it would not stay in position, nor would it cancel...I discovered after removing it that pieces were broken off....it was the original item.
I've included a photo of the wiring....
Thanks,
Erik.
Also....who sells the clear plastic insulator that prevents the horn from going on all the time -- mine disintegrated!!!

If the turn signals and the fuel gauge arn't working it sounds like there is a bad connection on the green feed wire. Check with a volt meter. You should have 12 volts to ground on this wire with the ignition turned on.
There is nothing in the switch that should be able to short to ground, so installing the switch shouldn't take out the power to the fuel gauge, or blow a fuse.
The switch is copied from the UK version which has the additional connections to use as a high beam flash, if the wires are hooked up. It made more sense to make this version with the additional function, than making two different switches one for the US and one for the UK.
If you run a wire from the blue connection of the headlight switch to the blue wire on the switch, then connect the blue/white wire down to the blue/white coming from the high/low dip switch you can get high beam flash, just like more modern cars.
The clear plastic horn insulator is available from Moss or distributors under 263-745. This kit also includes a new slip ring, which tends to wear.

Had the same problem when I did my turn signal switch. I took the shroud from around the switch and, by comparing the function of the wires at the switch, found that brown and green stranded wires started to look the same. The colors on the new switch are correct but the shades are a bit off. Use the wiring diagram at Advanced Auto Wire to match the wires on the chassis to the switch, took about 30 minutes to realize the I had connected the grn/brn wire to a grn/red wire and vice versa. Had the same problem when I installed a new main harness.
As for the fuel gauge, you probably just accidently pull a grn/black wire loose in the process, the two shouldn't any commonality.
