I bought the Moss Door Panel Kit for the 79 B. When I had the car in to get a new radio and speakers put in, they put on the panels in the very front and on the door itself. There are four pieces left - the piece between the trunk and the car (where they have put these nice new speakers in boxes), the two back side pieces that have the top connected, and the trim for the top of the door and the door handle.

I assume to put the back on, I have to remove the boxes. What about the back side pieces? Is taking off the three screws for the top a ton of work? It would look so much better. And how on earth do I wrap the top of the door and the door handle? I have this material but no directions? (Minor rant: my biggest complaint with Moss is that they sell pieces and NO DIRECTIONS to anything!!)

Thanks,

Yer speakin greek, but I think you mean you need to put the bulkhead panel in. IF your new speakers are in the way, yes, remove them and install the panel. To install the side panels in front of the wheel arch, you do need to remove the top frame. Unfasten the reating screws, the top frame screws, replace the panels, replace the top frame, ride into the sunset.
The door cap comes off with the two chrome plates. They then come off so you can reupholster the door cap.
Door handle? Nah. There should be some material for the aluminum rail that encircles the rear part of the interior (the name quite escapes me). There are some tricks to that install.

I am speaking Greek? I don't even know what some of those words mean. Heck, I am still trying to figure out what bulkhead means! My limit is about 6 letters and then I am out of my league!!

Seriously, the door handle was a bad choice of words. You know the part of the door that you hold on to when your wife takes a turn fast in the car? It is on the inside of the door. Its like a HOLD ON OR YOU MIGHT FALL OUT OF THE CAR piece. That is the other part I don't know what to do with.

Thanks for the help!

I installled the same panel set. The "cockpit" rail trim was the most challenging. I used spray adhesive, 2 dozen wooden clothes line pins and some paint thinner. The paint thinner was used to removed the glue from my hands. Gluing a flat piece of vinyl on an piece of aluminum that had an arc in it was a chore. Of course after a few whiffs of the glue during the process you begn to wonder why the heck the rail needs covered. Door and side panels where fairly easy.

Funny you should say that Doug that rail is a pig - and thats an insult to pigs. I tried spray adhesive, bunches of clips but the darn stuff would not set up whatever I tried. Eventually I took the whole thing apart. cleaned it off and tried contact adhesive. That seems to work but I am not satisfied with the result so now I am faced with the task of starting over again.

How do you get the bulkhead panel off? It appears to be connected to the car by some type of rivet.

If you think Moss are bad with instructions, you should try restoring an old Mini sometime!!
