Loctite is not needed for nylon locknuts.
Nail polish does work pretty well. I don't know what your application is , but "heavy duty locktite" may not be what you want to use. Locktite comes in several grades depending on how hard to break the seal becomes. For most automotive fasteners either of the medium duty grades usually red or blue is what you want, the really hard stuff is for things that won't be coming apart without the use of heat or hydraulic presses.
As Derek said, you don't need locktite with the nylon locking nuts, but they are designed for only a couple of uses before they don't hold well and locktite will help then, but best is to replace the nut at that time.
Blue is the only Loc-tite I would recommend for fasteners. It's called removable. Red required heat to remove.
I use red all the time and it does not really require heat to remove, unless the fasteners are tiny.
Ounce per ounce, nail polish is probably more expensive than Loctite.
Just don't use Loctite "Black Max".
