MGB: Need advice on testing new clutch

Just installed a new clutch on my 71 b restoration project and am about ready to put the engine and trans back in the car. Is there any way I can test to see if the throw out bearing is properly disengaging the clutch. As I expected I am unable to put enough pressure on the clutch lever by hand. I realize that the slave cylinder exerts tremendous force when you push down the clutch pedal but wondered if there was some method I could use to see if all is working properly. I hate to put everything back in the car, hook up the slave and find that it doesn't disengage. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've done a lot of clutch jobs and never saw a need to do that kind of test. What would you be looking for? Your not going to be able to see any thing, and unless the engine running and under a load your not going to be able to tell if it's sliping. There only two things that could be amiss in that bell housing. You put the clutch disc in wrong, and a B disc will only go in one way. The other is your pivot bushing and bolt is TOTALLY shot and the throw out bearing isn't hitting the pressure plate, seen them worn but NEVER that bad.

Thanks Tom. Put the clutch plate in right and a brand new throw out bearing. I can move it back and then advance it until it hits the clutch assembly. I'm sure it is all in right. Just being cautious. I guess I should just button her up and put it back in the car.

Yep, It gona be OK. The only thing I do with the engine out before I pulg it in is check for oil pressure, and that's only if it a brand new motor.
