Want to thank all for the answers about the replacing the crossmember pads.
Also i have a 2nd ?
As you would expect their are not a lot of MGB's up here in Alaska but i ran into a person that did have one it was rusted out it was a 1977 MGB anyway he parted it out I was going to buy the engine complete, trans, and the complete rearend and some other parts for 200.00 dollers mind you i don't think i need them as all is going well with the one's that are in my MG now. My MG is a 1979 would it be worth just getting them for the just in case the engine tag said it was a 18v and the trans. is a non od.

The stuff would be a bolt in. The engine may be a good one to rebuild and have all finished for when you need to replace the one in your car now. That way, your car would only be out of commission for a weekend. Trannie's are so strong that they just don't wear out. Same for the rear end. Heater and radiator would be good to have on hand. Wheels, too
Dwight, if you have the storage space $200 would be a good deal for that package. "hot spares" are always good to have on hand. You could rebuild them at your own pace without having to rush through the job. Check them out again and make an offer of $100 and go from there.
Such a deal, go for it.
BTW I'm in Dillingham this week and will be in Anchorage Friday night and we are probably going to the Moose's Tooth for dinner about 7:30 I would guess. Stop by if you get the urge. I'll have the MG hat on.
One can never have too many spares. If you have the room, I would pick them up, but then again, I am a packrat.
Dwight,
I might need the engine for my '78 B down here in Baton Rouge, LA.
Let me know if you don't want it so I can look into it?
Thanks,
Bob Burns
I would guess that there are not an enormous number of MGB's handy to use for spares in Alaska, so this opportunity should not be miss. The opportunity to have a working drive train for $200 is effectively free. The added benefit is that your wife will be thrilled to have the basement and every free space in the garage and house filled with MGB parts. I know my wife is:)
