Greetings MG lovers. We are new to the MG scene and just picked up a 74' Midget a few weeks ago. She's in fairly good shape but with a few issues...fuel guage and odometer not working, wipers quit after a week, missing radio, key stuck in the ignition (probably the cause of the battery drain) emission pump disconnected, couple of wheel stds broken, etc... I'm looking forward to being a part of this community and picking the brains of a few of the experts here as I have no experience in British LBCs. I am a fairly good mechanic and can't wait to get my hands dirty with her so I'll be picking up a Bentley manual soon. She seems to be all original except for after-market speakers and a Mitsubishi fuel pump. I don't believe the color is original but whomever had it painted did it right, even the engine compartment and interior are the same yellow.
I'll post a few pics here as well.

I bought this little baby for my wife to tool around in and she's having a ball.

Here's our little puppy Spicey getting ready to go for a ride with mommy (my wife Trisha). She was a bit skittish at first but she's getting used to it. She loves putting her head above the windscreen and letting the wind blow on her face. "DontPanic" said it looks like a great anti-theft device and I think he's right!

I'm 6'2" so it's a bit tight. The top of the doors hit just about my thighs so it's a tight fit to slide in.

Being as she's over 30, we put Historical tags on her.

I think this is going to be fun but I know what "MG" stands for..."Money Gone" but hey, it's a nice hobby that I hear can be addictive. Anyway...we're looking forward to getting this little baby back into pristine condition and having some fun.

Welcome to the board. Your car looks pretty good already. How many miles to the thief does that alarm system get?

As to the battery drain, I would look into the alternator to see if the rectifier diodes are blown. Most of the issues you describe are trivial and should be easy to fix if you have any experience working on cars. These things are pretty simple.

lol Pete...the alarm system hasn't caught any potential thieves yet. Her activation distance is about 10 yards so they don't even get close. We need that though because the key will not come out of the ignition.
Thanks for the tip on the alt diodes. I do have a lot of car maintenance experience...I owned a 68' Beetle and a 56' Ford truck plus a myriad of other maintenance hungry vehicles so I am familiar with the dirty work and love it.
