I call it a "Beetle B"......

Truth be told, I'm changing the radiator in my daughter's VW Beetle, which - incredibly - requires dismantling the entire front half of the car. I had no place else to put the front "clip" other than on my in-process B. Thought it looked pretty funny....

Kinda resembles Solarman's MGB V8 and Tony's MGB V8.

Must be a German thing to remove the front end of the car for a relatively easy repair. The Smart cars require the front removal as well just to change a headlight bulb.

That's too funny Bob! You had me wondering for a minute there!

My trusty neighborhood mechanic quoted me $950 to swap out the radiator on the Beetle. I thought he was nuts, but I'm into this 5+ hours so far, and have not yet started reassembly (waiting for "special" O-rings from the dealer for the elbows that connect to radiator). Radiatror itself was less than $200 - everything else is labor. Who'd have thought that parts for my 30+ year old British sports car would be both easier to get and cheaper than a popular contemporary car? Worst of all - this is stealing time from the B, which I really want to have running by Thanksgiving.....

Your daughter needs a mechanically-inclined boyfriend. She's messin' with Dad's quality time.

Your daughter should buy an old air-cooled Beetle, then you wouldn't have problems like this... No radiator! ;)
