Hi MG-Philes....
I was pleased to find this forum, I will probably come to you for advice as this "Experience" rolls on. I just acquired my second MGB, the first was a '63 that left here about three years ago, I was not going to restore that car as it had too many issues for my ability. The current addition is a '73 MkIII that was a West Coast car and ended up here on the East Coast just a short time ago. Buddy is in very good, original condition, no rockers rusted out and all that. There is the case of the badly faded paint but I'm working on it. I'll post some photos on my website and link you later. I am very excited about the B and have high hopes for this being the Sunday morning breakfast blaster and leaf peeping rig. The year just happens to be the same year my wife and I were married so that really puts a nostalgic spin on things.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to Skye for this great site and I'll be talking with you.
Thanks,
Rob & Sue

Welcome Robert!
You've found a great place to hang out, and get information (sometimes even about MG's!)
Be sure to post some pictures soon. There's nothing like viewing someone elses restoration job, while yours is outside just waiting. For me, it's inspiration to see what other people have done, and I've learned a lot from them.
Welcom aboard. I hope you enjoy this group of people as much as I have and the information you can get from them is simply amazing.
Steve F...welcome...now, if you haven't already done so, go to <http://www.theautoist.com/thelist.htm> & join our virtual car club!
Tony,
Robert is the new guy. I've been around for a little while. Maybe I've been too quiet. Should I start ending sentences in "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"?
Steve, I didn't know you were the new guy..... Who was that guy I me at Winnie then.... Some kind of twilight zone thing.,..
Nope, wasn't me. I have no idea what you're talking about! I certainly didn't meet you at a gas station/convenience store. It wasn't me that saw you drive up in your truck, and I was there with someone else (oh, you didn't mention all that, did you!??)
Welcome back! Haven't seen you in forever. I guess you've been pretty busy keeping that maniac away from your car!
Okay, guys...rub it it...I screwed up (but don't tell Gary - he'll go bazonkas!)...sorry, Steve...&, please, don't start acting like a Canadian who'll be left unnamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...Robert, join our virtual car club...you'll enjoy!
I will say nothing!! I will say nothing............................ :o)
All.
Thanks for the warm welcome, I can tell right off that you all have fun here. I look forward to the good information you share and I'll try to pass on what I learn, knowing that you probably have already experienced what may seem a revelation to the relatively new B'er.
Kim,
We are on the coast in Maine.... we have wonderful scenic rides in both the coast roads and Western Maine mountain roads... I don't want to rush the Summer along but look forward to running Buddy all over the place in the beautiful Autumn.
Thanks to Carl for the notice of the "Show of Dreams" at the Strawberry Banke, Portsmouth, great timing, I'm going with lots of film. When we had the '63 B I went to a show in Conn and talked this poor guys ear off for an hour, asking question about his '63. He didn't shoo me off, probably just wishing I would go though. These cars have just always done it for me, can't help it.
Chris, ('You already named him!)
Yeah, after the Boxer (dog) that the guy that I purchased him from had. I had a long drawn out discussion with some friends over whether to name the car a "Him" or "Her". What do you think.....?
I've never been one to name motorcycles or cars but his just felt right....
Thanks again,
Best,
rd

Greetings Robert from a fellow new arrival. I am in Maine also and work in Portland, live 20 minutes away. Have just woken up a 1971 GT that had been sleeping in CT for 8 years and am enjoying it as a driver while daughter is home form college. Carl French was a real help to me in finding a number of Maine MG resources. I am also happy to pass on what I know...feel free to contact me off BBS if you like.
Manning
Manning,
That's no little feat, you getting to use the GT while your daughter is on break...:)
I will probably look you up for the Maine connections, Thanks... Just finding this BBS is wonderful.
I plan to stroll around the Show of Dreams Saturday morning. I'll be the only (maybe..?) person there wearing a Moto Guzzi shirt.... hey, it's still "MG"
Take care,
rd
Robert, chris was talking about Tony naming me!! We get along great, as long as I never disagree with anything he ever says!! :o) I'm sure that you will enjoy your stay here!! I have learned a lot!! It is where I come to relax and joke with the guys!! Like I said, welcome aboard!!
