MGB: Not a B question, It's an MGA this time.

My Doctor & I were talking at my last appointment, and he has a 61 MGA that he got from his father that is in exceptional condition, except for the fact that it will run fine but for no longer that about 2 hours. I know that this is little info to go on, but I told him that I'd see what I could do. He also admitted that his dad was a good "tinkerer" but that particular gene skipped him. But damn, that's a fine car, batteries are dead for now and I just cant let that beauty sit there and deteriorate. I have to help him, it feels as if some higher force is directing me to keep that A going. This LBC thing is becoming an all-engrossing obsession. Being behind the wheel of a well running MG pretty much feels better than any drug I've ever done.
So far the little, old european car community here consists of my 71 GT, a 73 roadster, the 61 A, one Triumph of an unknown type(I think it's a TR6, possibly a Spitfire) a couple of bugs, one VW van and an 81 Fiat Spyder. I think it's time to start a car club.

Just a WAG (wild-assed guess) but I'd say his generator ain't generating or his voltage regulator is sticking. If he can charge the batteries and run for a couple hours and then it dies, it's one of these items gone south. Tell him to donate the A to me, and I promise to keep it running.

Try running it til it stops, then see if the batteries are dead.
