MGB: oil filter adapter

Do I need to use the adapter? When I put the engine back in I'll check for clearance. But as I recall it will fit good.

Why I ask? I get a little seep of oil around the adapter to block. I bought a new O ring (moss)for it but the seal on mine has an rectangular profile ring. Just thought if it's not a clearance thing do I really need it.

Oh, mine is desmogged. Maybe there was a clearance issue will the smog stuff on it.

I looked into removing it once myself but the issue on mine was the steering rod. Try a little RTV on the o-ring.
