Good morning all. A while ago I posted a thread about MGE stickers, which got tossed about a lot, but nothing ever became of it. Today I got to thinking (very dangerous at times) about the 'members' on this site. I thought that if one is really a member, one should have some sort of signification of that fact. We all know here on the site who a member is, but if you are out and about, who knows??? So, here's my thought. If one wants to be known abroad as member of the MGExperience, one should become, at least a silver member, at which point they would receive an MGE sticker. And to become a gold member, one should receive a sticker, and possibly a name tag or MGE patch. For a nominal increase (or whatever Skye decides) this could be put into effect. I for one would not hesitate to pay extra to keep my gold membership. So......what do y'all think?

Why don't you make Skye and offer for this site? If you owned it you could give yourself a Plutonium star. (and a patch)

I got a better idea.

You buy us all a gold star to hang on the dunny wall.

Ok. Skye, remove this dumb idea. Not posting anymore. You know, all you had to say bad idea, those comments were not necessay. Not you Mick, you're ok. Actually, Pooch, you're ok, too! Sorry for the inconvenience and the rant, but that first comment rubbed me the wrong way.

Kwinzee, ideas come by the truck load. Sometimes you don't know if it's good or not so good till you throw it out there and get reations. I was just joking around and I hope you laughed when you read my response. You're only trying to promote MGs and this site. Nothing wrong with that. Just keep thinking and take medication when appropriate. (just kidding again)

Mick, no offense taken, and yes the meds are working now, lol.

Sorry, Jim, but your comment just rubbed me the wrong way at that point, I'm hoping you were just kidding as well and I just misinterpreted it.

Ron, I appreciate the idea. You've brought it up before in different ways, others have, t-shirts have been made by members, Mick's made some unique hats that may help, etc. The bottom line is we'd like some way to identify ourselves to other MGE members (whether paying or not), and we don't have anything. Skye promised some swag a while ago, but it never materialized. I wish he would put some stuff somewhere, even if it was just Zazzle or Cafe Press, with a recognizable logo, so we could by some hats or shirts or stickers or patches or something to wear to shows and other events so we could find each other in the crowd.

Disclaimer: No, I can't afford to buy Skye's site. But like Ron, I'd like to help promote it.

Seems like a good idea to me, Ron. Guess it's a matter of logistics and finances to set up whatever swag may happen.

I'm a newbie here, so my opinions probably don't count, but I think the idea is a good one. When the wife and I rode up to PIR to see the cars, it would have been sort of nice to be able to identify some of the handles that I'm beginning to recognize.

I actually think it is a great idea.

This is an excellent point. Unfortunately, the majority of LBC owners are not members on this board. At least if we knew that an LBC owner was a member of the board, it would be a good conversation owner.

Maybe an MGE.net logo to keep the size small. Or MGE logo with a net design through it.

I have access to some very reasonable t-shirt and silk screen printing. Just had a batch run for the company, if anyone is interested.

Also have access to embrodary, but never quoted.

Mr. 101 posts owes you an appology Ron. I hope he was saying it tongue in cheek as well but I don't think so. :(

And Ron... I got everything working CORRECTLY on the GT today. Had the reverse switch hooked to power both in and out.. ::o

Ron...a MGE logo is a great idea!...you should of just waited a few posts..LOL! I think Skye is working on a MGE logo, lets just wait for his response.

As a low poster, but a Gold member, I see the merit in it.
I supported the site to keep it going as it is a very valuable tool in keeping these cars running and not for the recognition of being a Gold Member. That being said, as a member of previous car forums, it is nice to see other members out on the road and at shows. Maybe another member might have access to a sticker/engraving facility that we might be able to explore.

The jag forum (www.jag-lovers.org) sells a badge for a couple of bucks you can mount on the front grille of your car. Personally I think the Jag-lovers badge look hideous, is too large, and restricts airflow in engines already prone to overheating. But if carefully designed (perhaps half the size and better colours or a different logo all together) I wouldn't mind having one on my car. Imagine: driving down the road in your B, seeing another B, both with an MGE badge on the front. Makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Yup.

I'd love a badge for the MGE. Shame it's such a production to get them made. Could be a good fund raiser for the site though.

I've seen stickers for a forum for "that other LBC" that is my stable. I could see something like that here in a regalia section where anyone who wanted to could purchase stickers. I personally do not put a lot of value on silver or gold versus none. If you are on here posting a question or offering advice you are a member in my books. Some choose to support the site in varying degrees, and good for them. Some don't support it monetarily but their advice is beyond priceless.

I have started looking into production runs for reglaia such as stickers, fobs, licence plate frames, etc.

I hope to get it done soon. I was hoping for October, but it's probably going to be pushed out further.

It's a big cost up front, extremely time consuming and a ton of work to collect every member's address, label and stuff envelopes, go over the border to Pt Roberts or Blaine to mail out many hundreds of packages, etc.

Unfortunately it is not cost effective to handle site promotional items through a 3rd party such as Cafe Press etc.
Right now I'm focused on site development, but I will have it done before the car show season starts next year.

I already have a box of 2,500 MG Experience business card flyers sitting next to me fresh from the printer.....

I was at the Jekyll Island show. Another MGE member was two cars down. Somehow we never got together. It was later that the two of us realized that fact. I believe Kwinzee could start a poll. Throw out some ideas such as: who wants shirts, who wants stickers, who wants magnets, and so on. If the general population of this site decided on something it could get done. A design that stands out and could be detected at a glance would be ideal. Placement on the car so that everyone is the same. Even if it was just a big red dot placed in a certain position on everybodys car so that you would know where to look would be better than nothing. I can do most any of these things but until some choices are made nothing will happen. I will start by posting a simple design. If others will post a design then we can poll on which design is prefered. That's a starting point.
Mick

I didn't know Skye had posted. Maybe we should just disregard everything I just said.

We've had several over the years and many of us bought them. I just pulled this one from the closet and took a picture. The picture is of the back of the shirt and the front has the same logo in the pocket area. Here's the link to how that order started up. click here http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/read.php?1,538166,page=1 :)

Similar experience at Portland ABFM... I wandered around hoping to meet some of the folks on the board. Did run in to Danthefitman and had a great chat but it would have been great to have met others as well.

How expensive could it be to Print a few stickers with MGE printed on it. When Ron came up with this Idea I thought, okay cool. But, there is always a Butt. Some people Can't afford these luxuries.

So I'll take it a bit further, I see bumper stickers that have three letters In an oval all the time. You see them on cars that are owned by proud people. People, That Like to say I'm GB, Or I'm CAN, Or I'm USA, I'm AUS, etc.

One of us In MGB land could come up with an oval sticker that say's "MGE",In the oval. Sell them to Skye Or sell em yourself.

Yes I took my meds, matter of fact, I'm taken some more right now.

I agree with Chris. Simple, inexpensive and in my opinion, without a picture of a car at all. Just some simple little something so that we can identify members.

Like I said above, there will be products before next year's show season.

There's not that much more happening this year, by the time they are designed, printed and mailed out.

Here's a thought...for Skye for next year.
Not the design the principle (sp)
I had posted this before on off topic. Anyway the gist is this
Have the logo done on a magnet sheet, best sticker out there...does not mark the car and can be removed if not attending an event or leave it on, can be removed for washing vehicle etc...
This is what I had my sister do for me and it sticks great.

Skye, as far as getting people's addresses and such to do this through the gold/silver star members, you could adjust the way donations come through PayPal to ask for an address. Then, if a member who is already a silver/gold member wanted the item, they would just remove their subscription and re-add it to send you their address.

You could even send a site-wide e-mail notification about this just in case some people wouldn't see whatever thread even if it were stuck to the top of the forums.

I love the magnet idea. I just ordered a box of business card magnets from VistaPrint and they were cheap. See their prices. I order all my printing from them (just beware of the checkout offer for free magazines - - don't click that box or you'll get magazines forever).

This could also be a 'selling' point to get others to join the MGE that probably don't know about it. Once others start seeing this MGE logo, be it a sticker, T-shirt, badge, etc., natural curiosity will take over and they may just become members themsleves, better for Skye!!

Paul, I'm so glad you got that wiring straightened out, see you at Bronte!!

Here we go again...

Promotional advertising is what I do.. Tchatskes, SWAG, Widgets, Premiums, gadgets giv-aways, whatever you want to call it. Silk screening, embroidery, pad printing, plastics, injection molding, fulfillment etc etc etc.
I even do company stores and hosted showrooms.

I have offered Skye and everyone else heavily reduced prices in behalf of MGExperience or member's MG related businesses.

This keeps coming up. Skye is in Canada and as he said there is cross border shipping issues for him; of course he can deal up there and let me do it here and someone else in the UK and someone else again down under. Being PPAI (Promotional Products Association International) I am sure I could work everything out if Skye wants it to happen.

As to VistaPrint, I don't really think they own MGs. Their quality is so-so, not to mention they put their name all over everything.

Skye knows all this. You will note I have not printed a hundred t-shirts and sold them here or 4 dozen embroidered caps and so on. it is because it is my profession and this is not a commercial site. Users that decide to do these things I applaud, but wish they were using me of course.

Just another guy...
With another opinion, and a listing in the directory under The Promomaster...

Well Ron, if the plan works out and the fella comes down from Barrie on Friday and does the windshield and rear locking rubber, then it should get certified on Monday. :) Keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

Ron,
Sounds like a great idea. I would like to put MGE sticker on my MG and also would like to have cards with my name and phone number on it. Always seeing LBC parked and wanted to leave on car windshield for future contact. I just may have to print up my own cards. If MGE decides to print cards they need to have option of MGE member name and phone number available. Keep your ideas coming.

Thanks Ron, but it's kinda in Skye's hands now. I don't think that there's anything that he can do to disuade me from this awesome site. This is probably the best CAR site, never mind MGB site. I'm fine with whatever he decides. Anyway, we'll see what happens.

Magnetic stickers are definitely at the top of my list to get made.
