Quote: "Democrats are entering the fall sprint to the midterm elections lacking a unifying message to address the lackluster economy, scrambling to come up with further job-creating remedies and out of time to show substantial results before voters go to the polls. "

Quote: "President Obama, after a week consumed by foreign policy issues, will begin focusing publicly on the economy next week and on Wednesday plans to propose modest additional tax breaks, temporary and aimed at small business to promote hiring. But it is not clear that he has the votes or the time in Congress to pass them, with Republicans eager to deny Democrats any victories and endangered Democrats eager to get home within three to four weeks to campaign."

HUH? He has a majority in both houses, and doesnt have the votes?

A week on foreign policy, consumed? Did we get a serial processor as president? Even GWB jr could multitask. Its time for the American voter to wake up, the guy has had two years to get an economic act and message together and hes still dawdling along just throwing money at the problem. Unemployment is hovering at 10 percent.

Chuck,

The Dems are imploding and I have to say it brings me joy.

Who knew it would take an imbecile like Obie to right the ship George screwed up. And so fast.

Remember when people were upset the Obie took so much vacation.

Now everybody wants Obie on vacation so he doesn’t screw things up worse.

Obie…go on Vacation and stay on vacation and take your whale-tailed wife with you.

Note: I am not confident in the GOP. GOP will find a way to screw up the elections in November and even if they don’t, and take the house and senate they still have not learned their lessons.

The party of “No” should keep saying “No” to Obie and his socialist plans.

Last night at a party all the Dems now say they are independents…thats a good start.

It brings you joy?? If Obama fails we all fail just like we all failed when Bush failed Until we understand we are all in this together and get together and get things done we will continue to fail.............And you call yourself an American.

Sep 04, 2010 08:31:48

Pat, we want the Obama policies to fail to be implemented because they will cause Ameria to fail, can't you understand that thought process. You want Obama's policies to succeed because you seem to think they will help America. But we don't call you un American, just confused. Why would you support someone's policy when you know it will not logically work.

Sep 04, 2010 08:44:50

Don is the one who finds joy in it and we all know the reason, his attacks on Obama began before he did anything. I disagree that Obama's policies are bad for America we saw what your policies did didn't we? I know you and Chuck and some of the rest made out like bandits during the Bush years but the world doesn't revolve around you If we go back to the Bush economic policies then I predict we will have a civil war the haves Vs the have nots.

Sep 04, 2010 08:58:55

Pat stop wasting your time looking back that is done and over. Look to the future, with the Obama plan and theory. If that does not cause you pause then you must be blind. His policies will devastate us and our future. There is no question, he ran for the office of President based on that promise. He was going to change America. It boggles my mind that when you look at those plans you can't see where they end. When you take away all the fluff and feel good it is really pretty simple.

Debt $20 trillion
Unemployment norms 10%
Virtual third world status in the world.

Not much good happens after that.

Sep 04, 2010 09:14:23

Dick, Pat appears afraid the of the future, he can blame the past for the present and live with that. Its fear of the unknown he cant reconcile.

Where do I send the bill.?(tu)

The truth is it really does not matter if the GOP take the house and senate.

If it's close, it's good.

We need two years of "do nothing" in govt.

This motley group only make things worse, never better.

Don, I think there is a faction of the party who are scared about winning the house. They have much more practice being the minority and there could be something to having a one vote minority. But the problem is Republicans don't do well on their platform causes and they fold like a house of cards in a tough vote. I am hoping for a significant victory and new legislation making change in a new direction.

I agree,

I'm hoping for gridlock till 2014, then reverse Obies damage.

We get gridlock if we win the house or come close.

Sorry to be so glum but GOP has no platform, or leader.

Chuck... it's the new math, you need 60 in the Senate or the Party of NO will filibuster it to oblivion.

As the article says, the Republicans will all NO victory, no matter how small or how much it might help business. And you guys keep insisting the Party of NO isn't correct!

Sep 05, 2010 12:05:04
6863m

Steve, it would seem that the filibuster is used on extreme policies as it should to modify and mainstream legislation. That is the design by the founders. During the previous Republican Senate majorities filibusters were not needed because they were not an extreme group and they had many moderates who would vote against the Republicans and with the Democrats. That is the difference here the legislation is so extreme and with no compromises that filibuster is the only tool for the minority.

Sep 05, 2010 12:23:49
Steve64B

Richard... so you think "the filibuster is used on extreme policies" and this belief would be based on what factual foundation? Maybe you'll explain the significance of this chart

http://newsjunkiepost.com/2010/03/02/republican-obstruction-at-work-record-number-of-filibusters/

The Party of NO... why do you think they're called that.

Sep 05, 2010 12:33:30

Only you would think in August of 2010 that the policies of Obama, Reid and Pelosi are not extreme. I don't have to prove anything. To try to make people think that the Obama policies are mainstream is the classic definition of Political Hack. Your graph tells the story pretty well.

Richard... It's not that you have to prove something... it's that you can't prove anything!

The Times said the Republicans wouldn't allow the Democrats a win on any issue, even one that was good for business.

It's not about extreme policy... it's about saying NO to Any policy put forward by Democrats. The chart backs it up, Republican have used the filibutser almost twice as often as in any period in the past. That is the very definition of obstructionism and it's why the Republicans have Earned the title; The Party of NO.

Steve Y, in todays news the White House is trying to figure out how to use Michelle Obama in the current election cycle. She complicated that plan by her stupid Spain vacation so they are holding her out right now because people are pissed at them for flaunting in Europe. But they are going to use her as a campaign asset then I can't understand why you would say she is not fair game for comment and fault when she says anything wrong or controversial.

If they put her out there she better not be wearing bad fitting clothes and $600 tennis shoes. They will also only let her read a script or not allow the press into the meeting or fund raiser. Even David Axlerod does not agree with you.

I also did not see your comment on the pictures of Sara Palin on another thread by Eric.
