Depends on when you're coming. There are some car shows and cruise ins coming up but right now, nothing really. You could come buy some parts from me. 8>). I don't know if there is a basketball game going on then but you could go to that.

Real BarBQue is here in California. Nothing better than Santa Maria Style Tri-tip and Beans.

That fish stuff is for the birds.

Uh, hate to burst yer bubbles, Bubbas, but real Bar-B-Que is found in Texas.

There's a Bass Pro Shop on Hwy 77 around Charlotte if you're into the outdoors.

The real BBQ Ribs is at "Dreamland" in Ala.

Nope - Betty's Bar-B-Que in Anniston is the tops.

Y'all don't know nuthin' 'bout bbq. Real bbq is pulled pig that was slow-cooked over a wood fire & dowsed with vinegar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper -- nothing else. Accept no substitutes! ;-)

Mar 04, 2005 09:18:53
Wray

Pulled from the pig while it's still on the dern fire.

Lexington, NC, is well known for its style of bbq. Surely, it's available in the big city of Charlotte.

Try Bubba's BBQ at 4400 Sunset Rd. Their menu looks like it's genuine eastern North Carolina style.

Never been to Bubba's so I can't say if it's Lexington style or Eastern style (Eastern being the One True bbq -- in Lexington they use tomatoes. Ugh! ;-) If you ever happen to be in the Raleigh area, check out Stephenson's. They in greater metropolitan McGee's Crossroads, which is a wide spot in the road along 50 Hwy towards Benson headed out of Garner. They know 'Q!

Wray -- what part of SC are you in? Ever had any of Maurice Bessemer's stuff? I hear he uses mustard..... Weird.

Mar 04, 2005 11:06:49

I will check it out, I have nothing better to do..

Mar 04, 2005 11:10:18

I am supposed to try it from three different Restraints in the HW77 Area..

The President came to Lexington, NC just for the Pork bar-b-que that is pit cooked. Other places may make beef bar-b-que better, but NC has the ultimate best pork bar-b-que. Jeff

Steven, one and a half hours north to Wallburg, NC is the Ultimate B, come by and check it out and I will treat you to the best bar-b-que you will ever eat. There's two good reasons to come over. Jeff

Alright you Texans and Carolinians.....

The worst BBQ you can find in Memphis is better than the best you'll find anywhere on the planet! That's why we're all so fat here! :D

Seriously, I like it all. NC, TX, Memphis, KC....it's all good, just different. Just don't buy any "Memphis style" BBQ in NC, or "NC style" in Memphis, etc. Each region has it's own unique style sauce, preparation, etc. - and it seems as if you just have to be born there to get it right. Same thing when you order Cajun or Creole food outside Louisiana - it's almost always sure to disappoint.

The very best BBQ in Memphis isn't found at the big stores with the big advertising budgets. It's found at the Mom & Pop stores like Interstate, Showboat, etc. I could probably name a dozen....'cause I've eaten at 'em all!

And in Memphis, the term "BBQ" is always assumed to mean pulled pork. Ribs are called "ribs" :D regardless of whether they are "wet" or "dry". And if you ask for your jumbo BBQ sandwich without coleslaw, it's a dead giveaway that you ain't from these parts! :D

:D

I agree with Joe, on this one. Barbeque is excellent in its many different varieties, be it North Carolina, Memphis, Owensboro, Ky, Kansas City, Texas, Georgia, or wherever. BBQ is just plain good eating! My favorite bbq experience has to be Bozo's, somewhere outside of Memphis, riding in the passenger seat of a 72 Midget, with Tom B at the wheel. No seatbelts, and some bbq sauce from Bozo's, that was so hot that it left a neon green glow on your cheeks. Thanks for that special experience, Tom. My tongue is still burning, but I want to come back for more!

IF you want the best BBQ...well...um...don't come to Utah. This place only has one good BBQ joint in the state.

Y'all are making me hungry!

I'm a transplant from Lexington, NC (born and raised) to Texas (Houston area, soon to be Dallas - again). Talk about a BBQ dilema... :)

My lifetime all-time favorite BBQ was at Steve's BBQ in Petaluma CA. The "Foo Foo Mammy Jammer" was unbelievable!

well as long as we're talking BBQ, I think the best BBQ is where ever HSR is racing, one of my customer who races vintaqe is a champion BBQer, when we go vintage racing, he cooks everyday, we normally have ribs one day, beef brisket one and pulled pork one day, throw in lunches of his championship chili and BBQ hash and Brunswick stew, let's just say he doesn't have to twist my arm to get me to go racing with him :) I don't even go to BBQ joints anymore, he's spoiled me!
