Just wondering if an MGB overdrive from a rubber bumper B would fit into a chrome bumper B (like a 1971). I would think yes but I want to be sure before searching around. Was there any difference in the overdrives over the B's lifetime other than where the switch went? Thanks.

Are there no speedo issues Jack?

Hush up Michelle! I said that it would fit, not that it would come without baggage. LOL

Only real issue would be stuffing an RBs OD into a B that came with the 3 syncro.

Don't listen to 'em. It won't fit. When do you want me to come pick it up? :D

If it don't fit... you must acquit.

Nice try, Joe. I'm already on my way to snag it.

wiring, you will need the proper wiper stalk switch or the shifter with the switch, as for speedo, you will need a 1280.

Hello,

I think you need a 1000 calibration speedometer from a '75-'76 B. Also there is a longer speedometer cable involved. If the unit has a blue label on it it may only have OD in 4th gear, unless it is an early one. If it is from a '75-'76 B I believe you can just plug it into your existing harness. Please test all of the switches in the unit before instalation. If you use the search function on this forum you will find much longer discussions of all these issues.

Only difference I know of is the early LH had the dipstick and the later ones had the side plug. I have a late one in my 72 and actually prefer the side plug design. All LHs only have OD in 4th. The switch on the wipers was already there. Did have to change speedos though.

Nope - black labels, and early blue labels have 3rd and 4th (I have a blue label with 3rd & 4th).

As mentioned, you should already have the switch and main harness wires, you will need the short O/D harness. Other than that, it is "plug and play".

Oh, what year did they start 4th only. I guess it's just a difference in the interlock switches?
