When I went to install the new clutch, PP assembly, I had purchased a new spigot bearing. When it came time to remove the old and install the new I then find out that the old one is the longer 1-1/2" part. Then new one is the 1" piece. Is there another vehicle that utilizes the 1-1/2" part that I could possibly obtain at the auto parts stores? Does this part cross reference to anything else? I'm in a time constraint so am looking for alternatives other that mail order. Thanks for any help here.

I know what you mean about silly little parts issues at the last second being a PITA.
I don't know any specifics for a cross over but you could always go to a bearing house and just put the two on the counter. They should be able to use the ID and OD from the new unit and the length from the old unit to match it. If theirs is longer of course you could whack it off with a saw and I can't imagine a slight shortness being a problem.

As long as the ID and OD are the same, a slightly shorter bearing will only have an equally shorter life. You can install it and it should work fine!
Yeah, this one caught me off gaurd. I did not actually visually confirm the length of the old bushing but merely had stuck my finger into the opening (the engine was still on the engine stand in the corner of the garage) and could 'feel' what I thought was the end of the bushing and ordered the 1" one. Well it turns out that what I was feeling was a groove in the old one that had been worn by I suppose the end of the input shaft. Don't know, don't care at this stage in the game. I was just curious if any one knew of other vehicles used this same sized part that would be more readily available. (Ford, Chevy, VW, BMW) anything, because most of the time when I inquire about a part for this car, the person's eyes begin to glaze over like I had asked for a left handed nostril inhaler. If I could ask for a part for a more common car it would be less traumatic on them. :) If it is longer I could cut it down as suggested by Twig, no problem, I'd just like to get one for this weekend so that time wouldn't be wasted. I had guys lined up to assist with putting the lump back in but have to call it off unless I can find a suitable replacement.
IF you have it out of the crank, take it to either some automotive store like NAPA, or to an industrial supply. Often, they can match it up with a stock bush, if they have it to measure (or you have the correct measurements). If you do this, require that it be an oil-lite type bush and it should last you as long as a stock item.
According to Moss either bushing is for a 5 main bearing engine. No added details are listed. VB lists the 1 1/2" bushing for 65-68 and the 1" for 69-80. I had a universal KD clutch alignment tool kit I bought from a closed out garage, it had adapters for all common cars including some metric sizes for foreign cars. None of them would fit an MGB bushing, so I doubt if there is a common bushing the same size.

Thanks guys, I got to thinking about it and if that groove that I felt was indeed from the input shaft and if I were to measure the distance from the ned of the bushing, it theoretically shoild be 1". IF, that is the case, than I see no need for a bushing that is any longer than that other than spacing. Tomorrow I'll get the old one out and verify what is going on and then get back to you.
