I've run into another snag getting my MGC back up and running. I rebuilt the slave cylinder and went to put it back on and the threads on the bottom port that the clutch line connect is striped most of the way down. It seems that the past owner has switched the bleed screw port (top) with the clutch line port. He just had a bolt in the bleed screw port. I could put it back together this way but I think with the bleed screw on the bottom it would have a hard time bleeding. I've priced new slave cylinders at $70-120 most places but I could do just with the housing and use the innards from mine to finish it. Anyone have one laying around for cheap. Remember its for an MGC. I understand Tony B. has a MGC pasts car but in case he does not have the slave cylinder I'll ask everyone.

Try and find a brass fitting with the proper line fitting on one end and pipe threads on the other. Take the cylinder a part, drill it, tap it, install the brass fitting and go from there. You could even put on a different type of brass fitting, match a line to it, cut it and the original line and join them with a flairless fitting. The crutial point here is to be sure the new piece of line is the same exact size as the original.

I'm not understanding what you recommending. I was thinking about something I uses in the navy when I worked on helicopters to repair it. We used to put new threads in using something called Helicoil. I haven't used them in 10 years and have forgot how to do it. I might go by the machine shop tomorrow and see if they can do it.
