Recieved my Peco exhaust from Brit tek. (not headers). On the instructions is says it may require some re-angling, hopefully this doesnt mean bending the tubes? surely not.....any tips from those of you that have done this install would be great. Have a good weekend all. B.

I found mine ran close to the rear bolt for the lower shock absorber. This was for a tube-shock conversion. The header was another story but I do not remember anything else needing bending.
When I did mine I put it all together loosely starting from the front with all the slip joints connected but no clamps tightened down. Then I suspended the rear muffler from the rear bracket with a bungee cord holding it close to where it would eventually be. With all the weight taken off the exhaust pipes I could easily rotate each length of pipe and angle it correctly so the system would clear the notch in the frame and the rear springs etc.
Then I snugged everything down and took it for a test drive to make sure it wasn't hitting anything before I finally tightened it all in place. The fitting can be pretty close in a few spots so if you are using the type of clamps that pinch the pipe when they are tightened down, make very sure you have good clearance between the pipe and the body before you tighten everything in place.
FYI, If I ever do another exhaust system, I'll punch/cut two holes in the heat shield so in the future I can get to the two center manifold nuts.to re tighten. Just a thought.....
Not sure what year your car is, but with my '80 I had to cut about a foot off the down pipe. Then I had to put a 2" to 1.75" reducer on the end of the Peco exhaust pipe. Like Matt said, I fit eveything up loosely and twisted the pipes to achieve just the right angles to clear everything before tightening. I used the stainless steel clamps from Moss because I don't like the ones that pinch the pipe. Too hard to get apart later if needed.
GOOD LUCK!
Chuck, it's a 78 and the pipes are too long for mine too. I'd make a mess of cutting the pipe sooooo, I have to take it to a muffler shop after all. Not exactly the "slide and clamp" that it was purported to be.
FWIW - I used the header and full PECO system and it bolted right up. Weird the stock design is off so far.
It's not really that difficult to do, but I agree I wasn't aware that anything would have to be cut for it to fit. I chose to cut the down pipe because it's a smaller diameter and by not cutting the Peco it would give me more 2" exhaust pipe. You should be able to take it all to a muffler shop and have it installed for $50 to $100. After you get it installed, let us know how you like it. The only thing I don't like about mine is I tend to get some popping noise under hard deceleration. I was told this could be from an exhaust leak up front somewhere but after replacing everything up there I know that's not the problem. I think its the rear muffler. It's not that bad so I can live with it but I was hoping for something a little more throaty and a little less raspy.
Cheers!
For those that have done the Peco install, can you post some pictures. I have a complete Peco set up to install, but I am missing all the brackets. It would help to see the finshed product to give me an idea what I need to buy.
