where is the outrage over the Quran burning?
I can only imagine if there was a bible burning, there would be tons of outrage
General David Petraeus has condemned a Florida church's plans to burn Qurans this week, warning that the scene "could endanger troops" in Afghanistan.
Petraeus told The Wall Street Journal Monday that Pastor Terry Jones' September 11 stunt could ignite violence from Taliban forces already versed in harnessing American headlines as propaganda:
"It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort," Gen. Petraeus said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. "It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community."

Just saw an interview with this scumbag and he said if our troops get killed Oh Well He doesn't care about them at all he says he has to fight Islam whatever it takes. Lets pick up his entire church ship them over to Afghanistan and give them a gun if they want to fight.
Why aren't we hearing outrage from the good Xtians on this board? Why aren't we hearing outrage from our troop supporters here? Come on lets hear either your support for this cretin or join us in the outrage or do you just want to play it safe?
None of you touching this are you? Well you don't have to worry this POS preacher is now "praying" for guidance so I'm sure Gawd will tell him to not burn the Korans He got his 15 minutes of fame None of you good Christians have an opinion about it?
Pat they are in a tough position.. the general says it will harm the troops, but the idea of burning the holy book is acceptable..
Just the typical hypocrisy from the right I know why they are hiding I'm just bringing attention to it.Now some could charge me with painting Christians with abroad brush but then they get in a jam because that is just what they are doing to Islam..........Everyone thinks their religion is the only one that knows the truth when actually none of us do.

Hypocrisy…..Pat you own it!
Why is it “freedom of religion” to build a mosque on the site of 9-11 and not freedom of religion to burn religious books.
Please Pat you’re killing me
I’m sure if it were a bible your tune would change.
I know you like NAZI references didn't the NAZIs burn books? I guess it's OK with you to put our troops in jeopardy You are indeed a true patriot.
No one agrees with what this preacher is doing and few agreed with building the Mosque but accepted that is was constitutional and there was really nothing that could be done other than complain about it. Same situation here the guy has freedom of speech and it probably does not reach the level of hate crime. So it is left to the permit to have the bon fire.
In so far as the Muslims it seems a double standard in that are always burning our flag and would have little problem burning the bible. And we accept that.
But it is very wrong to jump to the conclusion that anyone agrees with what he is doing. Or that it is somehow condoned by Republicans.
Or that it is somehow condoned by Republicans.
"
Isn't silence the same as condoning it? Where is the outrage? I don't remember Muslims burning Bibles do you?
Pat, what would you want us to do other than saying we don't agree with it. What is different. This is a "should" question and not much more and it is clearly wrong.
Why aren't we hearing the icons of conservatism saying anything about this clown?
I have been listening to them for the past hour on the news shows but did not listen to anything today.
I know you like NAZI references didn't the NAZIs burn books? I guess it's OK with you to put our troops in jeopardy You are indeed a true patriot."
Pat, not even a good try. I never said I was for or againt the mosque or burning of books.
Just pointing out to all your Hypocrisy. Own it, or just say good point Don.
You love to assume and you know what that makes you!
Went right for the Nazi...how pathetic

I'm sure if Boner or Palin came out condemning the church it would be big news Their silence says a lot about them as Americans.
,. this whole world is intoxicated drunk on religion,.
if we try to stay out of the madness, we cant,
as it is all around us,. tax exempt religous empires,.
and hate,
,
. against other religions, ( they all do this)
and some very good sincere folks, caught up in all this,
in my humble opinion,. this book burning should be canceled,
innocents will be killed over this,.
please dont do this,.
if this pastor ,. preaches anything but love for muslims, he is not a christian,.
I do not profess any religion,. but,. years ago I did,. and even went to bible college,.
I know a little ,.,.
You would think by now we would have grown up but I guess people need a crutch and a vehicle for superiority.
If they keep it up and cause Armageddon in the mid east waiting for the Savior to return and then he doesn't(of course) then maybe people will get wise to the thousand + year scam that was perpetrated on them.
with any luck this obviously non-christian pastor will have the wrath of the muslims land squarely on him and not our heroic armed forces.
IMHO burning any book is a crime, be it the "hungry hungry catipilar" or "Mine Kampf".
deliberatly antagonising another group / sect / religion is a wholy un-christian thing to do if you ask me. but meh what do i know, im an infidel whichever way you cut it. (athiest)

Firstly your statement about the mosque is totally wrong. It isn't a Mosque, it is a Islamic community center. It will be a Multi Use Facility with a room for Prayer, a Gym, and a . Secondly it is two blocks away from ground zero.
The "Park51" project, as it's officially dubbed, is in fact planned for a site two blocks from where the World Trade Center towers fell, amid other lower Manhattan establishments whose names have never featured the words "Ground Zero." If built, the 13-story community center and mosque project will be one of hundreds of buildings located within blocks of Ground Zero — a densely populated area that already includes a couple of mosques, along with less "hallowed" institutions, like strip clubs, bars and Off Track Betting operations.
"To call it the Ground Zero Mosque not only would give you the impression that it's on the site of the Trade Center," he continued, "but it might even give you the further impression that it's part of the rebuilding process to that site."

This is part of the biggoted thinking that alot of Americans have. This is one reason why Prop 8 in California is such a big deal.
..the guys an idiot....that he is religious is secondary......
..the guys an idiot....that he is religious is secondary......"
Agreed!
Kurt, I gave some thought to it when the two blocks was pointed out but then I changed my mind about the goegraphics when they pointed out that the landing gear went through the roof of the building being converted that enlarged the ground zero for .
As to it being a mosque or not I am not sure what makes the difference between a church and a community center. So if I build a community center and only allow one religion of my choice to have a space for its activities can I still call it a community center. Can I get Federal matching funds. And can I put my chosen symbol on the front door. Seems like we are making up enough to justify something we know is just not right and shouldn't be done but can't be stopped. And based on some comments by Phil I am not sure what the permit process can do once it is started.
About 25 miles east of me is piece of property the Indians put in the tribal lands trust in Washington DC. They then got a permit to build a large truck stop on the freeway. When they built the stop it was actually a casino and they then destroyed everyones well surrounding the land for miles. Nothing could be done and they did not care that they did not do what the permit called for and made a few modifications.
..the guys an idiot....that he is religious is secondary......"
Wrong These guys just like the Muslim extremists put their religion first If he wasn't he wouldn't be burning the Korans When is the last time you saw an atheist burning a bible?
We just smile and let you read what you want just don't shove it down my throat.

Making A statement like that could be considered bigotted in every way Kurt.
Chuck, on this forum many people respond to charges of bigotry with bigotry charges of their own.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bigot
a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.
when people oppose the Muslim Community Center for reasons of fear & hatred, even when they have a constitutional right to build their community center, are they not being bigots?
how is calling out those people as bigots, make the accuser a bigot?

IT doesn't but it makes them feel better about themselves.
He implies all americans are bigoted JOe, that includes you.
“You hear someone like General Petraeus saying burning the Koran could be dangerous to American troops – hey General Petraeus – how about invading Arab countries and occupying them and killing innocent people? You think that could be dangerous to American troops? Oh no no, our foreign policy has nothing to do with this – they don’t like Americans because we go to Disneyland and shop at Walmart.”
Gerald Celente... spot on...
Nothing like getting caught with your hand in the till of the church you've been expelled from to motivate beginning your own, I guess. Looks like he has turned out to be a snake handler even if wasn't his objective.

Actually I didn't imply "all" you need a lesson in reading and comprehension. I said "This is part of the biggoted thinking that alot of Americans have." Do you see the difference? I do think that alot of americams are biggots. And this issue proves the point. Same with the fact 80% of Californians diasaporve of Gay getting married. That is biggoted thinking.
Kurt, with the California gay marriage issue, the reverse bigot charge has been used widely on this forum. Somehow they feel being called a bigot is a bigoted act in itself. Not being tolerant of their bigoted views is in their eyes bigotry. I guess we must accept their bigotry, as to not be bigots ourselves. (:P)
In fact, the reverse XXXXXX charge is used often by many here. Kinda like "I know you are, but what am I"

Around here believing in a progressive tax system is class envy, I've recently been told I was jealous of the rich. Kinda odd since I'm considered rich in America !!!

and the lunacy spreads
Conservative Christian leaders condemned a Florida pastor who plans to burn 200 copies of the Quran on Sept. 11, saying Wednesday that Christians don't burn other religions' holy books.
It's as simple as the "separation of church and hate," said the Rev. Rick Warren, a California megachurch pastor who prayed at President Obama's inauguration.
The National Association of Evangelicals, the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and Southern Baptist leaders all issued similar statements leading up to Saturday's anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in American history.
"Book burning is a cowardly act by those afraid that their beliefs aren't strong enough to attract people if they are allowed a choice," said Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life.
The Rev. Bob Old of Springfield, Tenn., doesn't care what they think.
The longtime Baptist minister says the Rev. Terry Jones of the Dove World Center Outreach in Gainesville, Fla., is doing the right thing by burning the Quran. So he's going to do likewise.
Old plans to set fire to a Quran on Saturday at his home and then post a video of the burning book online. And if he had his way, there would be no Muslims in America.

too funny, why does this lunatic get any airtime
The leader of a small Florida church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy says he is canceling plans to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11.
Pastor Terry Jones announced Thursday at a chaotic news conference that he decided to cancel his protest, claiming that he struck a deal with the leader of a planned Islamic Center near Ground Zero who agreed to move its controversial location.
However, Imam Rauf, the leader of the proposed center did not make a deal and has never talked to Pastor Terry Jones, Park51 officials tell Huffington Post, adding that they are open to all solutions and that the proposed Islamic center is open to dialogue and reconciliation with the community in lower Manhattan.
JW..... We have copy cat hate mongering cowards following in the footsteps! freedom of religion.... just not YOUR religion...
Inspired By Florida Hate Pastor, Tennessee Minister Also Plans To Burn Qurans On 9/11
While everyone from President Obama to Fox News host Glenn Beck has strongly condemned a radical Florida church’s plan to burn Qurans on September 11th, the idea has inspired at least one copy cat on the fringe Cristian-right. Rev. Bob Old of Springfield, TN told the The Tennessean that Rev. Terry Jones’ hateful scheme to burn Qurans has inspired him to the same, because in his view, there should be no Muslims in America:
The longtime Baptist minister says the Rev. Terry Jones of the Dove World Center Outreach in Gainesville, Fla., is doing the right thing by burning the Quran. So he’s going to do likewise.
Old plans to set fire to a Quran on Saturday at his home and then post a video of the burning book online. And if he had his way, there would be no Muslims in America.
“If they want to have their religion, they can have it somewhere else,” said Old, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Joelton and Academy Heights Baptist Church in Gallatin, which merged with another church. He no longer has a congregation and instead runs an evangelical ministry called Disciples of Christ.
Old’s dangerous plan was met with immediate condemnation from local Christian leaders, with one pastor calling Old “a nut.” “This is crazy,” said Rev. Larry Herbert of Faith Covenant Church in Springfield, “I am sorry that anyone who names the name of Christ would do this.” But to Old, the U.S. is a Christian nation and “freedom of religion does not apply to Muslims or other non-Christians.” “I believe that other religions are a threat to our faith and our beliefs,” Old said.
Jones’ desire to burn Qurans sparked a different reaction from the notorious Westboro Baptist Church, infamous for protesting against Jews and gay people, even at funerals for fallen American soldiers. Church leader Shirley Phelps Roper was outraged by Jones’ plan, not because of its hateful insensitivity, but because her bigoted church had the idea first. “We did it a long time before this guy,” she said, noting that her church set fire to a Quran on a Washington, D.C. street in 2008. “Nobody seemed to care,” she complained. Jones’ Florida church has defended Westboro in the past, and in April, even went as a congregation “to stand with” Westboro picketers when they came to Gainesville.

Here is your free lesson today since you really need this help it seems...
You Canadian are bigoted towards alot of Americans
Not a correct statement you could say you feel alot of Canadians aer biggoted towards alot of Americans, but that doesn't make sense, because really your either biggoted or your not..
Alot of Canadians are biggoted towards Americans
That is a correct statement. If you feel like in your observations that alot of Canadians(you really can't say all, because you don't know them all), are biggoted towards Americans, I would disagree with you, but it would be your opinion based on some set of criteria you came up with. So all in all not an incorrect statement.
Alot of Canadians are biggots.
This as a statement is correct, however totally inaccurate. Because of the makeup of our country We are actually some of understanding of people in the world.
Some Canadians are biggots.
This is true in every respect. Some Canadians are biggots. There are some people from every walk of life who are completely intolerant.
I will again say that after reading this forum for as long as I have been a member I have yet to see a country as intolerant of others as the USA.
