It is getting there, now a full interior kit is the next obstacle to tackle. Car, oddly enough does not have a front sway bay on it and evidently came that way. I am installing a MGB/GT front bar and will probably lower car also via front springs and rear lowering blocks. The exhaust system is some "local exhaust shop" crap with a glass pack and ansa tips, and it is just too loud for me so I'll probably go with the PECO full system.

Nice Jay....what happened to the windshield?

That's just terrible, a long-term (20 year) loan to me would certainly be a solution :)

Very nice job.

I hope to get mine looking half as good.

I don't know what happened to the windshield, only that it happened while the car was in storage. When I first looked at it the car had been under a tarp parked outside behind a heating and air conditioner repair shop for several years.

The car did not run and had some aftermarket rear leaf springs that made it look like a 4x4. I crossed my fingers, promised my wife I could get it running, bought the thing anyway and towed it home. Three hours later it was running pretty well but someone had butchered the carbs and the distributor to the point that I gave up and slammed my spare Midget dizzy in it just so I could make it run.

Thanks for the compliments all.

This car is basically a carbon copy of the first car I ever owned when I was 17 so I basically HAD to have it.

Of course I had to tell the wife it was for her,,,,, which is kinda true right?

Nice! Are the seats servicable ? They look like they could use a good cleaning but might be not too bad from the pics. What's the white goop on the carpets?

Beautiful car, bravo...keeping the Breed alive...and well! Red's my favorite color for these cars. Although - British Racing Green is my second favorite.

Norm,

the seats are kinda strange. they are leather upholstery but look like they have had sections replaced and basically they don't look like the right shape and don't fit well. Also, the foams need to be replaced too as it feels as if the PO left something heavy across them ina strange position and crushed them for about three years.

Dan,

Thanks and I am just glad the car was repainted the original color,,,, my Lotus Elan is BRG and also one of my favorite colors.

Already looks better than my 64. By the way my seats look exactly like yours :) :)

Looks great!
Are you staying with the black/red interior? It looks good with the red paint. Rebuilding the seats makes a big difference in comfort and appearance and good luck with the windscreen. You read about all the problems here with windscreen repairs but they don't all go that way.

Greg,

yes indeed. The new interior will also be black with red piping.

now the 61 Midget is black witha red interior,,,, but it is a whole different can of worms as originality is not so much a big deal with that money pit i.e. Toyota Twincam install from hell
