stupid question... my frame work for the original battery box is rusted away, and i ordered the plastic repair box... does the old metal have to be cut away, or does the plastic one just drop in over the rusted metal?.. i understand i have to cut some slots/holes for the cables, and have to make some sort of battery restraint..
thanks.

Mine were a tight fit so I did not have to attatch them. I drilled a couple of holes large enough to allow the cable clamps to pass through. My battery is a snug fit in the box too. my old battery holders still hangs down out of the way. I have a single 12v so the second box has some tools and oil and stuff in it. Great storage!
My two boxes were also a tight fit and I put in 2 6volt batteries. They were a tight fit into the boxes. No problems. I also cut the holes for the cables but I removed the ends first so the cable barely fits thru the holes. Nothing has to be cut away from the car to make these things fit. Enjoy!
I installed them in my 65. Just dropped in. But had clearance problems on the TOPS of the battery (the cover seemed awfully close to the terminals). So I place a piece of cardboard across top of battery to make sure I don't get a short! Also converted to 12V.
