What do you all think would POR make the heat shield retain heat?
I don't have a Sand blaster and I'm getting a touch of tunnel Syndrome.
Thanks
Paul

Is there a Hi heat version of POR15?
What's wrong with the new yellow zinc plated one, it not that expensive. I don't normally rehab them when I do a full assembly becuase it would cost more labor to rehab than replace.
Marc..Yes there is a engine paint Por.
Hap...My labour is free plus I'm cheap and allready have new replacements for the original asbestos.
Thanks
Paul

Paul, I painted mine with POR15 last winter and it still looks shiny and new...
I say go for it.
Thanks Chris!
Ned...Yep the original stuff is.
Paul,
Even a good coat of standard primer and paint will survive just fine. I would suspect the POR to be even better.
Thanks Jimmy...my wrists especially the left one just can't handle the wire wheel brush right now. I need a bigger compressor and a sand/media blasting cabinet.
POR15 also has a product that's either black, gray cast, or shiny aluminum color that is designed especially for exhaust headers and pipes, it would be perfect for that. I think they even sell it in pints.
Here's the scoop on it, and I quote:
This Aluminum high temperature paint is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1400 F, POR-20 is also extremely weather, salt and moisture resistant. Helps prevent cracking, chipping, and peeling.
You will be excited by its performance and beauty. We guarantee this to be the most brilliant, uniform heat resistant coating available anywhere.
Can be brushed or sprayed.
