Hi all,
I just picked up the dash of the 1967 roadster. Since the car is taken apart due to a repaint, I have taken the opportunity to also repaint the dash. to be totally honest, a colleague of mine was kind enough to give it a try (he had some previous experience). Although the result was not too bad, it did not really live up to my expectations. There was quite some difference in the kind of wrinkles and the dash also shone to much for my taste.
A couple of weeks after the respray I stumbled upon a small company which did a good job on media blasting my wire wheels. As their general business is in powder coating for industrial purposes, I asked him if he was willing to give my dash a try. He was and he even managed to get a free sample of the required powder from the supplier, which made it a lot cheaper as this stuff is both expensive and has a limited lifetime.
So, here are some pictures of the results. I am very very pleased as the dash looks better than new. The only (little) downside is that now also the inside of the dash is sprayed in a wrinkle finish.
Enjoy!
Stan

I had the same thing done - powder coated crinkle black.
I am very happy with the results.

Paint is ok, but considering how much work it is to remove, strip, paint and reinstall the dash, I would never use anything but powder coat. In the end it doesn't cost that much more.

I have a '67 Pale Primrose Tourer and would love to have a dash that looks that good in it. RAY

Great job. I have restored 2 MG's and do all of my own powdercoating. It is not that much money to get into. Eastwoods have some great packages to stare with. Once you start you won't stop.
