I replaced these today and just wanted to confirm a couple of things. The front cover (with the breather tube) did not have anything other than a brass washer between the head of the bolt and the cover. The cover itself has a little nipple type of a deal that tops off a cylinder that houses the bolt inside the unit. I put this back just like I took it off, with only a brass washer. I thought I would dab a bit of high temp silicone around the whole affair and I got it pretty tight. Not overly tight, just fairly tight. The rear cover had the remnants of a rubber washer with a little metal cup washer on top of that. I put it back just like I took it off, with the rubber washer (really just more of a very short length of rubber hose), then the cup washer. That's it. I might put some silicone on this as well.
Is this the way it should be? I really can't tell from the Moss or VB catalog, and the repair manual does not even show it.
thanks

I think there should be a seal on each bolt but you've done what I've done in the past.
As long as it doesn't leak, you've done it right in my book.
Putists will wander away shaking their heads and muttering. :D

The rear cover had the proper hardware and seal, you need the same thing for the front, if it leaks. You can get the new piece for the vendors.
