Question re:Ignition Problems

HI ALL !!

Still trying to diagnose my ignition problems.

So far I have used my timing light to prove to my self that when it misses, no spark is going to the cylinders (duh... i know, iknow but I had to see it for myself)

I have ordered a new cap, rotor, condensor, and points set. (should be here monday) Do you think it could be the coil too? If so, I can get one at the local autoparts store before my other stuff gets here UPS.

Warm sunny weather is on its way and I need to get on the road !!!

Keep us posted on what it doesn't do after you change out everything. That will eliminate everthing that costs anything and make finding the problem quite a bit more simple.

I doubt it is the coil!! But who knows!! I will bet on bad spark plug leads!!

One way to determain if it's a plug or ignition wire is to swap them around, and if the miss goes with it,wala.

I'm right there with you Chris. I figured it was time to tune it up anyway and bought replacement parts for everything - cap, rotor, leads, plugs, points. Hopefully this weekend I will have some time to install and be driving the beast again. Good luck.
