Newly aquired '70 GT, I it starts ok, put the timing light to it, then to find where in the He%% are the timing pointers. Searched here, found them. Had to tap off + off one of the lower fuse terminals for the timing light. Indeed I have no vacuum advance at all. Just like the other gent with his no guts B:)
Question 1, I was wondering what is the normal compression PSI for a '70 GT? I've seen others here with some numbers much higher. Different years, diff #'s?? Mine cold were 120 cross the board. Did not ck hot yet. Engine otherwise runs like a clock with a couple sputters from the SU's of course on occasion.
#2, Don't want to take the car offline for I have to play musical car parking since my driveway is small, where can I get a good 25D core distrib to send to JSchlemmer so not to imobilize ?? I've searched but to no avail and the gent with the barn of parts is a bit tardy in my emails? I need to move on this to get the daughter moving.
I will be doing the calipers, pads/rotors and hoses this weekend and slowly doing other minor things until ready:)

Check with Chris Roop and Tony Barnhill for a distributor.

You can find Chris on this board and Tony is Theautoist.com Maybe just autoist.com

Jeff has lots of dizzys, and can sell you one outright, or possibly you could pay a core charge on one then get it back when you send yours in? Check with him.

Rob, emailed Jeff yesterday about exactly what you mentioned. Just need the dizzy. No word yet. Don't need Flame throwers, Fire eaters, High tension spark plug conduits that rival Aliens superconductors, nuclear tipped, spark plugs ect!! Just a good 25d Dizzy:)

I may just call to find out. Sometimes takes the personal touch. I've seen some on ebay but fear made in China will be stamped on them.

I sent Mr. Jeff around/over 100 dizzys that will go in your B, if you need a core, I am sure Jeff has more than one that he will sell you!

As for 120 across the board compression, being even is good. Now if you want the numbers to go up, check them with someone standing on the gas pedal (wide open throttle) and spray a little WD40 in each hole before testing. I'll bet you see 135 :-)

i do verify Jeff has those 25D's on stock , he will do a classic points set up for you , exact same is in process for me .. i missed the nuclear fire plugs ,, i want some of those

when you do the wet compression test you can either put a table spoon of motor oil in the cyl like the guys say here or abide by printed protocol[chiltons] and put 30 CC in , thats what i suggest,
[ another reference suggests 10ML/10CC]
be sure and calculate the downwind hazard zone for oil smoke because when you fire off the next time you will lay a smoke screen as is seldom seen, an excellent chance to shut down , inspect plugs to see what an oil wet plug really looks like , not to mention oil drops off the tail pipe and an excellent opportunity to identify any exaust sysyem leaks since there will be QUITE a LOT of tell tale smoke..

Gave Jeff a call just now, Good guy. He mentioned he has quite a few 25d's:) as you all mentioned.
I will try in a while what Basil mentioned. The GT might be a bit tired but still fires up first crank!:) Have to call him tomorrow for he was in the middle of something with out quill or parchment to take down the details.
Will keep you all posted of the forward progress. Have the front brakes to do this weekend. Got some pads/shoes from O'Really autoparts. I asked for semi metallic and only organic were available. I'm sure they are somewhere else but am on a time table since the daughter is wanting to driver "her" car......
