My 1969 MGB will be arriving in Baltimore (from France, long story) on the 19th of November. I still need to get the car to Detroit. I was wondering if anyone had experience in "remote customs clearing and getting the car on a truck". For now I was thinking of using Phoenix Auto Transport Services, LLC, for the ground transportation they quoted me $370.

$370 from Baltimore to Detroit? That's crazy cheap...

Be cautious....It could end up on the bottom level of a car transporter with a car on the upper level leaking all kinds of fluids on your paint ant top...

Shipped an MG 1100 back from Spain and paid to have bottom steam cleaned before putting in
bonded lot prior to loading on ship..US customs in Phillie had me pay to do it again before releasing
car to me ( dept of agriculture requirement) and nobody in customs seems to work at normal pace
in processing paperwork . A six hour exercise ..

Patrick, when you say "remote customs clearance" are you saying you won't be there in person?

Yes, if possible I do not intend to travel from Detroit to Baltimore just for the customs clearance. I think though I will have to pay a "broker" to do it for me. That is the part I am trying to figure out.

Patrick,

FWIW - I brought MidGe from the UK, shipping it to Charleston SC. The ship bringing it called at Baltimore first so may well be the same one bringing yours. I drove to Charleston with a U-Haul trailer and dealt with the forms myself. It was much simpler than I had feared - just had to have a bill of sale and the form saying it was more than 25 years old.
