Okay, MG'ers, I'm almost to the end of what started out as a brake project but then wharfed into a front suspension rebuild, new steering boots, all new brake lines and now new seals in the rear axle (left rear was apparently leaking onto the drum/shoes). I am concerned that this leak was due to the breather being plugged. My question: how is it removed for cleaning? I can pull off the little plastic do-hicky, but how to I insure it is functioning properly? Thanks in advance for you input.

Just run a q-tip inside to ensure its clear and clean the inside of the cap and reinstall.

The little plastic doo-hickey IS the breather and is threaded, so if you've just pulled it out you may have stripped the threads, but you may get lucky and rethread it by screwing it in SLOWLY (maybe with some loctite)
