Hi everyone,
I've had a rear axle oil leak on the LH side this summer --enough to readily see it on the outside of the road wheel after ~100 miles use. This is on my Deluxe but I am fairly certain that except for the shape of the hubs that it is like the wire wheel set up with regards to seals.

Upon getting it apart this morning, the outer hubs where gasketed were fairly dry, as was the back side of the rotor where the seal would have leaked. The knock-off had much oil in it and oil was also dripping from the end of the threads (for the k/o) at the end of the axle.

My friend and I came to the conclusion that the 'freeze plug' (don't know the actual name of it) that is supposed to be tapped home in the center of the end of the axle hub really wasn't seated. We drove it home with a ball peen hammer, and cleaned the surfaces up and used some black RTV. I'm hoping this will solve the problem. (The plug on the RH axle end showed signs of having been driven home much harder and was better seated around the edges). I'm hoping this was all it was!

Dan, A friend just had a similar problem. Turned out to be that "frost"
plug on the end of the shaft. You can buy 'em, but sealing it will probably
do the job
