I'm in the process of replacing the rear exhaust mount on my '70 and I was wondering about the upper mounting bracket. My car didn't have an original rear mount when I bought it, but it did have what appeared to be the original (judging from the center mount) rubber (?) piece that actually mounts between the car and the upper metal bracket of the mount. This piece appears to be getting a bit worn, and I noticed that later kits (74 on) appear to have this piece built onto the metal bracket in the form of a longer tongue offset with two 90-degree bends.
Having said all that, the question is, are the two mounting kits (70-74 and 74 on) 100% interchangeable if I toss the rubber piece that is currently connected to the car?
