Anyone know where I could get in touch with the man who designed the rear mounts on my 71BGT? Right now I'd REALLY like to touch him! Over and over till my knuckles turned to hamburger! I think a fourth grader with learning disability could come up with something easier to work with!

Way past time......unfortunantly I quit nearly 20 years ago. I am considering starting again, though!

If you quit 20 years ago, then you better not start again! ;-)

Save the money for the car!!! :-)

I couldn't find him last year either! It does help to keep everything loose until the end, but you know that :)! It's still a tight fit.

Chris is right about hanging loose. Don't even bolt the crossmember to the frame untill you have everything attached in the middle. Then bolt the crossmember to the frame and tighten everything up. Leave the rod from the bell housing to the crossmember 'till last.

By leaving everything loose. What they mean is everything. The nuts that hold the rubber to the cross member, the bolts that pull the center assm. tight to the cross member. Then you start all of the bolts to the tranny. Now tighten everybody up before you jack the cross member to the body. Use a drift punch to line the holes up as you jack it up. With the punch in one hole install and tighten the other one up. This will leave the remaning hole lined up. You will need a long extention and a 1/2" wobble socket to tighten the nuts that hold the rubber to the cross member. There want be a bar going to the bell housing on a 71.

Is a wobble socket a universal socket?? By the way Gerry, if I catch that S.O.B. before you do-------! Just a thought!

Sears has them now. I had to pay over $100 for my Snap On. Sears is a lot cheaper and has the same warrenty. They didn't have them when I bought mine. I can't tell you how many times they have made a job easier, because the are much smaller than the 3/8" drive set.
